The three nights spent at the Urban Stay Salzburg City guest house did not seem like an eternity, and we were satisfied with the price-quality ratio, albeit with a stretch and reservations. Although more than 100 € per night – excluding breakfast for 10€ and a city tour. collection – is still expensive for a modest hostel. Among the advantages: the location in the Old Town area, in close proximity to Mirabelle Park and the historical center, which was reached in 15-20 minutes. Everything is within walking distance. To the airport – 15 minutes by taxi, to the railway station – 5 minutes on foot, excellent restaurants nearby.
We were checked in by a nice and friendly concierge, who willingly told us in good English about all the sights of the city with marks on the map and did not forget to wish me a happy birthday the next morning (thanks to which we ended up in Salzburg for a weekend in September 2016). The room was not too large, but clean. The bed is soft and comfortable (although the beds, pushed together, were moving apart). Among the disadvantages: the reception is open from 7:30 to 18 hours, then the guest house closes, each guest has his own key to the entrance. They do not check in before 15 o'clock, but you can leave your suitcases at the reception and take a walk while waiting for the check-in. In the room, through the open window, the noise of the "ironwork" passing almost under the windows of the building could be heard, and at night the smells of food cooking for neighboring restaurants penetrated into the room. Periodically, an unpleasant smell appeared in the toilet.
Sunday breakfast in the small but homely dining room was not bad at all: muesli, fruit salad, meat and cheese cuts, fresh croissants, cupcake, two types of juices, good hardware coffee, omelette on request. Monday's breakfast turned out to be much scantier: the omelette was refused by the young concierge (who was on duty in the kitchen, setting the buffet table) with surprising - for traditional punctuality – motivation: "She did not warn us yesterday that there were few eggs, and they forgot to buy them." No cupcake, no sliced meat. In general, for 10 € in the morning, they definitely "did not eat". However, this did not spoil our mood: Mozart's music sounded everywhere, reconciling the guests of the city with all the shortcomings and setting them up in a benevolent and romantic way
