A great place to end the day: the sunsets are excellent. The road up is steep enough, but small. Beautiful view of the city, the sea. There is a small cafe. You can drink coffee, cocktails. There are meat and fish dishes. Wine. The only thing is that 10% tips are added automatically, which is not written anywhere. But it's delicious. and drinking coffee while admiring the beauty of the sunset is worth it!
From the point of view of a tourist, this place can be considered more like an observation deck. It is located on a hill, offering very beautiful views of the city and the sea. There is little left of the castle. There are no information signs. The entrance is free, the gate opens. There are picnic tables.Check-in on Mount Bagrata street behind the Caracas Hotel. But it's better to leave the car downstairs. The entrance is inconvenient and there is almost nowhere to park from above. If you have a limited stay in Abkhazia, it is better to visit the Anakopian fortress or San Tomasso. Of the advantages, the Bagrat fortress is in the city and you can get to it as quickly as possible.
This is a very cool place, in the evening there is a stunning view of the whole of Sukhum, you can meet the sunset here. There is a cafe near the castle, we took tea, settled in a comfortable swing and admired the night views of the city
You can buy water at the top. They do not impose the service. The place is free to visit. There is a beautiful view of the sea and the city from above. Hiking uphill is not the easiest, but the climb is steep in only one place. We went with a child of 6 years old.
We liked it. The view from the height is magnificent, the nature is wonderful! It is very pleasant to drink cool lemonade in such an atmospheric place. I recommend you to visit.
An interesting attraction is Sukhum. Of course, it's a bit difficult to climb, all the time uphill. It will be difficult for children and the elderly. But the views from there are stunning, over the city and the sea.
We lived in Sukhum, so we wanted to visit all the sights, and of course we went to this castle. Only some parts of the walls remain of the castle. Literally 10-15 minutes is enough to see everything. A beautiful view at the top of the wall, where you can climb. They also opened a cafe there, but that day the locals were celebrating something there. There were almost no tourists besides us, maybe a couple more people. Getting to the castle on foot in the heat is a bit difficult. Because the road is circular uphill. They walked more than they were there.)
We really liked it. It looks like a very inconspicuous castle. You can walk, you can drive by car. There are signs everywhere, where to walk, where to drive. The views are just amazing. You can see the whole of Sukhum. I really liked it
Tired of coastal recreation, we decided to visit a local landmark. We walked up the rather winding streets. The whole castle consists of an old fortress wall, about 3 meters high. There's not much to see. The most beautiful is the view of the city and the bay.
I liked it, but there is one thing, getting by car to the castle itself is very problematic, you need all-wheel drive. And so the place is beautiful and there is an observation deck, an interesting view opens up
It's a beautiful place. Until you get there, you will get a little cardio) from a height you can enjoy an incredible view of the city and the sea. There are places to sit.
A beautiful place, I recommend to visit, the views are simply amazing, especially at sunset in the late afternoon!!!it is convenient to drive up by car, there is a cafe.
Maybe I don't understand something, but there's nothing to see there. It was a waste of time for us. Yes, a view of the sea and the city from a height. But this is an ordinary view, there is nothing super wow there. The ascent is steep, narrow, and in many places it is simply impossible for 2 cars to separate. This place will remain in memory as a "landmark" where there is nothing to see.
For a view of 5 , but apart from the view of the city there is nothing to see , the castle itself can be viewed in a couple of minutes , there is a cafe where orders are not very welcome , the boat with the egg turned out to be terribly sour , could not finish , the compote also did not seem fresh , the vegetable salad is delicious
The view of the sea and the city is very beautiful.
A quiet and peaceful place. There is a cafe. Tables with sea views . Beautiful view from the castle walls.
The ancient fortress of Tsar Bagrat III on the mountain, offers a beautiful view of the city. It has been preserved in ruins. There is an observation window, the lock is round.
It is always a pleasure to visit such places. It's like going back in time, touching history. It's interesting to guess how things were there many, many years ago. It's great that this castle has been preserved in this form, and that it is open to tourists and everyone in general
In Abkhazia, as in India, you either fall head over heels in love immediately and forever, or the rejection is slow and viscous.. But nature definitely comes to everyone. A beauty that does not exist anywhere else on Earth
It's easy to walk. If you meet a gate at the end of the way, then feel free to open it. Then there will be a castle, well, there are more ruins. But Sukhum has a fantastic view. There is quite an affordable cafe near the castle.
This place is of historical interest, although only ruins remain of it. Nevertheless, it makes an impression and offers a beautiful view of the city.
It is recommended for a single visit.
Beautiful view of the city, but there are no signs and information about the castle, just ruins. There is a tent with coffee and water, tables, you can sit and relax, it's better to get there by car
The view is just gorgeous, the restaurant is on the edge of the castle, but the castle is really nothing (a bunch of stones to climb up and take a picture) going up for 10-15 minutes by winding roads is not difficult at all
From the observation deck there are wonderful views of the seaside part of Sukhum. There is a cafe with WiFi on the territory, where you can eat kebabs, drink cold Sukhumi, which is especially pleasant if you go up to the castle on foot))
Very beautiful. There are not many tourists, since not even all Abkhazians know about the castle. I read it from one of the travelers. We did not regret that we went.
You go up to the castle along the private sector. The view from the observation deck is not bad on the city. Immediately, the entrepreneur organized a small stall with khachapuri and tea. You can sit at a table. This is the end of the pros. Of the minuses- the ruins of the fortress, overgrown with greenery.
There is only one wall from the castle, but there are beautiful views of the sea and the city near it. A good cafe and delicious coffee combined with nature is simply delicious!)
Everyone is ready to visit, however, only the lower part and the arch remain from the castle, but it is still
interesting, there is a gorgeous view of Sukhum, there is a cafe to have a snack, drink lemonade, eat ice cream, there is a quality.
Very impressive ruins! Emotions at the top are off the scale from the beauty around! I recommend that all guests of Abkhazia gather their strength and come up here. And the view down to the sea is simply stunning! The only thing is that it is very long and difficult to climb. I recommend taking a taxi directly to the ticket office. It's easier to walk through the shade from there. We were walking from the sea. It turned out to be 3 hours.
I do not recommend cutting off the winding road, but walking only along it. A big snake was seen in the rocks and grass!
Oh, that's something! It is located at the exit from Sukhum towards Kashtak and Ochamchyra. Pointers along the way will not let you miss. Very close to the historical ruins of the old castle with a partially preserved fortress wall. A wonderful place for photo shoots. While you can admire it for free. But this year we have set up tables, maybe there will be a paid entry.
A very beautiful, ancient place where you can plunge into the past, look at the greatness of the stone castle and the magic of its construction. The castle is located on the very top of the mountain, from where wonderful views of the sea, mountains and the city come off.
It's not difficult to walk, the views are magnificent. There is a picnic area: a table, a couple of benches, a barbecue (rusty, but not leaky). So go, you won't regret it
In the photo, the castle in Mount Athos, the castle on Mount Bagrat looks different and is located in Sukhum! And so, I recommend Bagrat Castle - a gorgeous location; an excellent cafe with friendly staff)
It doesn't seem to be a noticeable place if you skip it. But I highly recommend it. The view is gorgeous on Sukhum! I almost fell off the wall - be very careful! The view is very gorgeous! There are no photos, but it's better to try it yourself)
A picturesque place with its own history, it is better to go to the castle in cloudy weather or early in the morning, it is difficult to climb in the heat. There is a cafe upstairs, if you wish, you can have a snack. The castle offers a beautiful view of the city and the sea
