A very beautiful and interesting place for lovers of history and beautiful views. Be prepared for constant climbing stairs with high and slippery steps. The ticket is not cheap — € 23 per person, but you can only pay in lira, cards are accepted. The audio guide is also plus 350 lira, but you need to leave a deposit in the form of a document for it, so we couldn't take it, which we greatly regretted. Because there are a lot of incomprehensible figurines, objects of the past that you want to learn more about, but without the English level C1-C2 on the signatures next to it, it is difficult to understand 100% what is being discussed. I strongly advise you to go there with a guide, if you find such an opportunity. The castle is very interesting and well preserved. There are many exhibitions inside with objects found from the wreckage of a ship dating back to the 14th century BC! It's incredibly interesting. But I still think that there are many moments of neglect: very slippery stones, not everywhere there are black stickers on them so as not to slip, many art objects in the form of fragments of statues, tombstones, ornaments, bas-reliefs are just lying around without signatures at every step. I think this is disrespectful to their history. Peacocks are also walking on the territory, which is also cool. In general, it is worth visiting on a not very hot day.
The impressions of visiting the Fortress are wonderful. There is such a collection of amphorae, armor, and beauties from the life of knights and queens. The expositions are very widely represented. The ticket price is 1212 tour. lir, we took the headphones, they are included in this price, you only need to leave a deposit, we left 20 dollars. The deposit was returned to us after the visit and there was a nice bonus, as a gift we were given two pairs of wireless headphones, very good quality. It's a small thing, but it was very pleasant. The time of the visit is not limited, at some points it was nice to delay and listen twice. We were very pleased with the visit!!!
An atmospheric historical place, very well interspersed with a journey through the fortress itself and museum corners. Usually, children don't really go to such places, but everyone was happy here. Local residents added color: turtles, peacocks, seals.
A beautiful place with a great history. There is a very interesting museum of underwater archaeology in the fortress. A stunning exhibit is a Bronze Age Phoenician ship with a cargo of goods originating from Egypt to Afghanistan and with an international crew. This discovery turned historians' ideas about the trade routes of the Bronze Age upside down.
A medieval fortress in the Turkish city of Bodrum, on the territory of ancient Halicarnassus, which previously housed one of the Seven Wonders of the World — the mausoleum of the Carian ruler Mausolus (Greek: μαύσωλος). The famous mausoleum, located near the coastline, suffered several earthquakes and was finally destroyed by a strong earthquake in 1402. From this date, the Knights Hospitaller from Rhodes Island began the construction of a fortress that could protect the harbors of the city. The castle was built on a hill, on the very place where the temple of Apollo was located in ancient times. Most of the finds from the Uluburun ship of the 14th century BC are located here
This is a completely unique place in itself + a fascinating museum of underwater archaeologists' finds + picturesque views of the sea, islands, bay, Bodrum ... it may not seem very economical, of course, but it's worth it!!! Even if you are not a fan of museums and so on - there is only the atmosphere of a medieval castle that "sucks" instantly!!! I have already visited twice, and if I find myself in Bodrum again, I will definitely go to the castle again)))
I liked it: you come in and immediately plunge into the age-old silence, tranquility and coolness. Time has stopped here. The views from above are breathtaking.
I didn't really like the ticket price. But in general, now, in my opinion, the price tag for tourists is higher everywhere, including in the Russian Federation.
I really enjoyed the visit. The Middle Ages are felt everywhere. Beautiful air, magnificent views! The ticket price is not small, but it is compensated by impressions! Peacocks walk freely around the castle, always ready for your treats! I recommend a mandatory visit!
Admission is 29 euros, they charge only in lira. Is there a souvenir and branded market nearby? of course, there is an exchanger there. Wonderful views, the old fortress is impressive. History is right under your feet! Inside, in the premises of the exposition, air conditioners work, there are places where you can cool off.
The evening views of Bodrum are beautiful. Plus it's not so hot in the evening. Peacocks are walking. View of the Marina. Artifacts of the monks' stay in the fortress. Climbing the stairs. There is a lot of greenery and there are air-conditioned halls. But in the heat, it's better in the morning or evening.
A perfectly preserved Genoese medieval castle-fortress, many artifacts, statues, objects of the era, weapons, a panoramic view of the entire bay, near the port, you can go sailing, have a picnic and swim a lot, and in the evening there is a long promenade with many cafes and restaurants, nightclubs
A very good place for walking, sightseeing. It is interesting inside, beautiful views of the sea and Bodrum. There is a good museum inside. I highly recommend visiting this fortress.
The museum is not bad for Turkey. There is an old boat with goods, wall inscriptions of knights, there is a place to walk and the Turks did not destroy everything and not quite. And some of them were even restored by the Europeans. It cannot be compared with the Mausoleum of the Mausoleum.
A very large and thoughtful exposition. The territory of the castle is huge and cozy, for a leisurely educational walk with incredible views of the bay of Bodrum — priceless. I really liked it, it was very interesting and beautiful) well, I had such a detailed excursion into underwater archaeology for the first time in my life))
The museum is very good not only for its preserved architecture, but also for its skillful use. An excellent example of medieval defensive architecture. Beautiful examples of antique sculpture and mosaics. A magnificent reconstruction of a sunken ancient Greek ship. Unique expositions of ancient weapons and jewelry. A very curious and informative museum. And live peacocks.
We were at the castle on September 10, 2024, the cost was 23 euros, we paid with a Union pay card. The castle is beautiful, the views from the castle are fascinating. Definitely need to visit.
A real old fortress. There are a lot of historical pieces in different halls that archaeologists have been lifting from the bottom of the sea for a long period of time. In general, there are a lot of historical artifacts. The fortress itself was built at different times, starting from the 1400s. And if someone is not very interested in historical objects-the fortress itself is located in a very beautiful place, on the peninsula. From three sides the sea, yachts, beautiful views. In the fortress itself there is, among other things, a cafe, toilets, a souvenir shop.
An interesting tour and museum. We thought it was not a big one, but it turned out to be a huge territory, with a bunch of levels, walls and towers. We were very tired while we went through and looked at everything. But it's worth it, a lot of emotions and impressions.
A beautiful place with an interesting history, it is better to take a Russian-speaking guide, you can find it on the Internet. The entrance fee for tourists is 500 liras.
The views and viewing platforms are gorgeous. The best time to visit is closer to sunset.
It's not a bad museum. It is not a small area, there are peacocks on the territory of 2 museums inside the castle, but I would not dare to say that it costs 27 euros (as of July 24).
An interesting place with 600 years of history! Get ready to spend at least 2 hours even on self-examination. It is better to go in the morning or in the evening. The price in July 2024 for a visit is 900 liras.
Excellent fortress museum everything is very well preserved, there are many mini museums on the territory that have air conditioning , there are shops where you can buy a drink
The museum is large - there are many halls. In each hall there is a necessary minimum of exhibits on the topic - without overload. Modern museum equipment - multimedia, air conditioners. A full detailed inspection takes about 3 hours. Children like ships and peacocks the most. Tickets are expensive, but it's worth it
A must-visit for all tourists in Bodrum. But be prepared to schedule at least 2 hours for a normal inspection of the entire territory. Tickets are unexpectedly very expensive. I couldn't even remember where else we paid so much for visiting something like this.
Interesting for adults and children. Wander around the medieval fortress, see the artifacts, try on the jewelry of Princess Karia… Time will pass unnoticed and with great benefit
While walking around Bodrum, be sure to visit the fortress. Great historical heritage, and if you climb to the top, you will have a beautiful view of the port itself with yachts.
An interesting fortress museum. It's worth visiting, but it's better to go in the late afternoon, because in the evening a wonderful panorama of the city opens from the walls of the fortress!
Of course, I have nothing to say to the castle, which smells of very beautifully preserved history. But when a person travels, he gets tired. there are very few benches to rest on by the roadside. The number of banks should be increased.
Interesting. The main thing is not to get caught by a Turkish expert. Of the whole tour, they only understood why they did not want to work with Russians. And the fortress is very interesting, it's good that we tried to read the info ourselves before visiting
A visit to the fortress for "other nations" starts from 21 EUR at the time of writing the review - this is the basic route. The power of the fortress is felt, although it did not have time to serve its builders in particular)
The entrance to the museum is not cheap, but it's worth it. Moreover, it is the main attraction in the whole area. The castle is open until 22, so it's better to go in the evening when it's not hot. The finds from the wrecked ships are interesting - mostly amphorae
