And what about the store's employees?? Who can tell you? Young, strange faces, I don't even know where they get them.
There are a lot of people wandering around the trading floor, but there is no sense, there is absolutely no one to consult about the product, there are only rude aunts at the checkout, who allow themselves a lot, who feel power and authority. Ha-ha. Hello, USSR!
I even shot a video about Minsk and about the GUM building.
I love this building - a kind of historical heritage of Soviet culture. Stairs inside, elegant wall decoration. Everything is so monumental and speaks about the stability of the state and the people.
We visited Minsk in November 2023.
I was so disappointed how unpresentable this place is in the center of Minsk. Frankly, it's a market with very cheap trash.
One of the advantages is that the toilet is free and clean.
But it was like I plunged into the 90s with a taste of the Soviet Union, a very sad aftertaste remained. The style can be preserved, but give it its own charm, not cheapness, as it looks.
I will not come to this place for sure anymore, I do not advise anyone to visit the city as a tourist.
We made repairs, it became beautiful and neat! There is a cafe on the 2nd floor, you can drink coffee and eat dessert - fresh. Namely, pancakes and waffles for an amateur.... for such a price, you could make it tastier.
On the fourth floor there is a wonderful dining room, not crowded and delicious. The portions are good, the prices are small, even with the fact that this is the very center of Minsk.
A store that evoked nostalgia for Soviet times!))) Everything is collected in one place, logically distributed by floors. Excellent cosmetics department!
About 3 weeks ago I got a shift of qualified personnel who knows the product range well. I bought a blanket, bed linen and decorative 2 pillows. I spent 20-25 minutes on the entire purchase selection. I didn't pay attention to the employee's name, a woman. How important is good service in trade, a competent approach to the buyer with his choice of purchase. It was nice to make a rather big purchase in a short time.)))
And when I got to gum about 2 weeks ago. I was amazed that the staff was not all attentive to the service at the checkout. Constantly in all departments, and also in the children's department, soft magnets were not demagnetized. On all the security gates of the store there was a trigger for me to pass through them. As a result, there was a constant check of me and my purchases by checks. The staff was so slow in service, it felt like I was sleeping. The staff was under the age of 20-22, young people. Slow, inattentive, they can't tell you anything about the product. Or they are not interested in all this, so what was the point of going to work in trade then. In trade, you need speed, attentiveness, talkativeness, knowledge of everything about the assortment of this department, in which at least you work. And other positive qualities.
GUM Administration. Please pay attention to your staff.
Thanks for understanding

Beautiful architecture. We plunged into the post-Soviet past. The prices are average, the assortment is varied: from towels to mink fur coats. I would like to make repairs inside and a specification for the product. As it is, everything is in a pile.
My favorite store. I visit it very often. The assortment is excellent. You can buy everything. The staff is polite. There are always promotions and discounts. The quality of the goods is impressive. Factory tailoring. Tableware, household chemicals,a wide range of care cosmetics. I recommend it!
After the renovation, the first floor became fresher and more modern. The staff is kind of tired, not young. They often gossip about everyday, personal topics in front of customers. It's like they don't notice you. The guards are of course extremely suspicious) Discount and seasonal discounts. Of course, the building itself has great architectural and historical value. I do not get tired of admiring!
A beautiful and inexpensive store with a large selection of everything that is necessary in everyday life. Convenient location, good staff, explains and prompts on the assortment
A good supermarket, lots of household goods. You can find everything you need here. There is also a dining room on the 4th floor where you can have a quick and satisfying lunch. I visited her several times
A huge store with 4 floors of goods for any choice. Ranging from groceries to garden equipment. Big discounts especially on jewelry. The staff will always tell you what you are interested in.I did not complain about the quality of the goods if anything can be exchanged or handed over.
A good shopping mall. Yes, the prices are not small, but if you need to buy a carpet, it will do. The consultants will come in 1-2 minutes after the call
GUM is a legend. Even if there is no desire to buy anything, it is very interesting to see the architecture and interior. Otherwise, a fairly wide range of products is presented.
A superstore!!! A huge selection of things for children, women and men. A large selection of cosmetics, both Belarusian and imported. Various souvenirs. A wide range of household goods: clothes, bed linen, etc. All consultants are well-versed in the product, polite and attentive. The prices are affordable. I recommend this store to everyone!!!
A very nice place. There is something to see, something to buy. There is a cafe where you can have a snack. Clean, light, comfortable. I recommend you to visit.
As a historical building, to see the architecture and please the eye, it is definitely a must-visit place
In terms of the products presented, it is very doubtful, the prices are higher than other stores and the assortment is not modern
The department store itself is a monument-monument of the Soviet period. Huge staircases, spacious halls. Sellers who are ready to help, a wide range, frequent discounts. Everything is fine. The only thing that upset me was the updated buffet. New tables and chairs are good, but bring back the range of cafes. Why offer faceless fast food at such prices? The sadness is that in the pursuit of profit, they did not think about the desires of customers.
I visited with pleasure, bought a pair of leather belts for my husband and son. As a shopping center is not interesting, to be honest, it cannot be compared with Russian ones, but as an architectural object it is very cool. We went to Belarus not for clothes, but to see the country and culture, we liked it.
A LIVING HISTORY. A RECENT ONE. An architectural landmark - both in appearance and interior - and an interesting (at least to a Russian) store. On three large, high-ceilinged floors, there are a lot of curious, and even useful goods, including Belarusian ones. But you can also just walk around the halls, admiring the internal imperial layout of the Stalin era. (After all, they once knew how to build shops! Not like the current rectangular cheapies made of glass and plastic). And if anyone gets hungry, there is a snack bar on the 2nd floor, on the left side (if you stand facing the store) and a dining room on the 4th on the right (see the review)
I came on the advice of the commercial director of a company that produces stylish Belarusian things to buy a dress for the anniversary, which are on display in Gum. As a result, the women's clothing section did not know about the collection, after a while I found them myself. The sellers and the head of the section had no desire to sell and offer at all. As well as buying from me in principle. No one even participated, although she asked for help in choosing, and more than once. I won't go for clothes, it's easier to order on the WB, the service is still the same... I haven't been in other sections, maybe the situation is better there.
Of course, this is not a GUM in Moscow, but it is a department store where you can buy everything from cosmetics and dishes on the ground floor to furs and diamonds on the floors above. Our beautiful girls can look for outfits from Belarusian brands, and if they haven't found them, go to the fabric department and buy a cut for a dress, and buttons and a zipper for it.... Our strong half may or may not be interested in the products in the men's department. You can definitely buy socks there! Also on the ground floor there are some taps, plumbing, everything for the garden, etc. In general, you can find everything there. He often makes discounts.
The deli on the ground floor is unique! The advertisement is super, right from the avenue, the banner on the 1st floor, in the photo of the advertisement, the assortment is larger than there is, the room is 5 * 5 meters. We just wondered how much money was spent on advertising and the final exhaust
Clothing prices are through the roof😱 What salaries are there to dress for? In the women's underwear department, a wonderful sales consultant, G.V. Romanova, helped to choose the right size, offered many options. Thanks to her, I bought three sets of underwear. I wish there were more such sellers
There are many domestic products at a low price. But we need to look for it. The staff will always tell you and show you. Discounts and promotions every day. I recommend.
A very beautiful and unusual place, as if you got into the 90s, on the 3rd floor there is a dining room where you can eat very tasty and the prices are normal!!!
The classics of the Soviet store. There are a lot of Belarusian goods, prices are like in any supermarket, there are days of discounts and this is a plus. At the first stage, there is a "relish" where it is profitable to buy dried fruits and nuts
Very pleasant and professional sellers work in the fabric department. They cut off the necessary material as quickly as possible. I have never seen such efficiency in other state-owned stores.
Prices in the store bite, many things can be bought cheaper elsewhere.
GUM is the first largest department store in Minsk. It opened its doors to customers and guests for the first time on November 5, 1951.
The department store is located in the very center of the capital, at the intersection of the main highway — ave. Independence and Lenin Street.
GUM is a monument of architecture and urban planning of the XX century, one of the most important tourist sites of the city For many decades, it has remained a favorite place of Minsk residents and guests of the capital. Here you can not only make purchases, but also immerse yourself in the atmosphere of a Soviet department store with wide stairs, unusual stained glass windows and luxurious columns!
The building has an interesting architecture, everything looks impressive and is kept on a level. From the point of view of trade organization, it resembles a crowd of 90. Every meter of the square is filled with some kind of goods. The selection of Belarusian goods (clothes, dishes, linen) is quite large, the prices are average, closer to high. In general, I liked the building more than the assortment and the organization of trade.
GUM is beautiful, like the whole of Belarus. In St. Petersburg, you won't find such a store from your youth anymore. I bought wonderful lingerie, a cozy linen towel, and charming Belarusian ceramics in it. Lovely and friendly staff. The interior is magnificent.
A beautiful store with a large selection of domestic and imported products. You can choose gifts for yourself and friends. Of course, there are foreigners who come here for souvenirs.
The assortment is very monotonous if you are looking for clothes or cosmetics. Individual shops are more interesting in Minsk. The assortment of GUM and TSUM is almost the same, so it doesn't make sense to visit both.
There are few goods, a hardware store is not a hardware store, but just a few computer monitors and a stand with mice, if I'm wrong, I apologize, because I didn't see more computer products
