A large Soviet industrial goods store. This is history and nostalgia. The dining room is upstairs. There's a deli downstairs. On the first one, you can buy Belarusian cosmetics
A wide selection of various goods of good quality, polite and attentive sellers and consultants, a good discount system. The location of the department store allows you not only to make pleasant purchases, but also to walk along the main avenue, admire the beauty of our city
The city center , a large beautiful antique store .
A huge range of different product groups .
I bought Belarusian cosmetics . I liked everything very much! The prices are very adequate. Polite staff .
I was here today. It's the same as it was many years ago.
A large assortment, a large size range. I bought myself a swimsuit, and my son a pair of swimming trunks. At prices all in the same range +-10p. Things for a boy to go to school, of course, I just looked at the prices, everything has grown 2 times. The jumper for the boy was 34p last year, now 68p. (It's a pity that the salary is not growing as well)
This store is not for us.
Since childhood, I have loved this store, its gorgeous staircase, and polite sellers. There is no fuss (or maybe I was at such a time), it is spacious, a good range of goods, there is an opportunity to choose and there is no obsession and a feeling that you can be deceived.
A lot of different and high-quality goods! The staff is responsive, nice to chat with! Plus, a dining room has opened on the top floor, the food is satisfying for a reasonable fee! Everything is great! Thanks!
After the renovation, it's nice to come to the store. There is everything you need. The days of discounts are especially pleasing, because our products and clothes of a domestic manufacturer are not affordable to buy and do not correspond to the salaries of the population.
As a person born in Brest, who lives in Russia by the will of fate and spent almost my entire childhood (summer, holidays) in Minsk, Brest. I found the time of the Soviet Union, the CIS. It's nice to visit places like this. Nostalgia, probably. In January 2024, when visiting, I chose something for myself.
If you want to plunge into the atmosphere of the central shops of the USSR, you are here. Everything has been preserved to the smallest detail. The halls are packed to capacity with goods. There is not a single ottoman or bench to sit down (I understand that they do not go to the shops for this) but at a certain age I would sometimes like to have a little rest. Some kind of canteen on the ground floor, where you can relax a little, but there are a lot of sufferers.
The goods may be good, but it is very problematic to look at them
A good store with a good assortment of goods. Friendly staff. And the very atmosphere of the exterior and interior design of the building is not transferable. They visited in order to purchase goods for school. We found everything we needed. 👍👍👍
The ground floor has become more lively thanks to the cafe. We went up to the 3rd floor, women's clothing at crazy prices. It is inaccessible to ordinary Belarusians. 300 rubles for a summer light skirt is simply absurd. On the fourth floor there is a Soviet canteen
Unfortunately, the staff is often unpleasant. I would not like to put everyone under one comb, but friendliness and service are sorely lacking for a store in the heart of the country and the capital. Recently, even a conflict situation arose in connection with the rudeness of the seller towards my mother, which I witnessed. The seller apologized later, of course, but we still had the sediment. Maybe there is an elevator in the store somewhere, and I don't know about it, but pensioners who barely climb to the 2nd floor and above look sad..
The store corresponds to the title "nostalgia for the Soviet past". Very unfriendly staff on the third floor, in textiles. They answer through gritted teeth, with irritation, reluctantly. We are visiting the city, this is one of the iconic places, I would like more cordiality and goodwill, at least on the faces. Or are Minsk sellers so harsh?
The building alone is worthy of attention, both external and internal architecture. It is beautiful, monumental, an architectural monument. Every visit to Minsk, a mandatory part of the program is a visit to GUM. The goods are practically only from Belarusian manufacturers. A huge textile department for every taste and budget. Tableware, cosmetics, haberdashery and many more things. No, there are no brands there, but identity attracts no less. And there are also constant promotions, discounts up to 30%, which is very attractive.
Minsk is generally a very strangely repainted city, and this place is beautiful with an even more frozen modernity.
The store is as if there were still decent universal stores where everything can be bought in one place, and all departments smoothly flow into each other.
If not for shopping, although there is something to buy here, then just for an excursion.
The knitting departments of Contr, Mark Fermelle, leather goods and accessories from Mattioli, cosmetics, delicious confectionery products deserve attention.
The staff will show you everything and tell you. There is an Information Desk on the ground floor.
There is a currency exchange office on the ground floor. Check the exchange rate with the bank's.
In general, it is better to come with a reserve of time, you can get carried away and forget about it.
One of the favorite shops in Minsk! I really like both the staff and the product placement. There are always discounts, which is very pleasing. We haven't been there for a year, we were very pleased with the changes!
Diving into the USSR!
A monumental building. There are many departments: clothes, bed linen, fabrics, souvenirs. Almost everything is of good local quality.
A large department of Belarusian cosmetics with a HUGE selection. Cheap!
Currency exchange office - prices are the same everywhere for exchange, so there is no point in looking for cheaper.
Convenient location.
Domestic manufacturers are represented .We have preserved the history by going inside, everything looks almost like it was at that time, doors, windows, stairs, everything is in good condition.I remembered my department store. I lived in Ukraine as a child, since I was born before the collapse of the USSR, and then everything was about the same style.Queues at the cashier.Well, there are no queues now, there are consultants in the hall where the dishes are and they will tell you what and where you can buy.Prices are about the same as in Russia for dishes and household supplies. There is a cosmetics department, where Belarusian manufacturers are represented and a huge selection of products than what is presented in Russia from Belarusian manufacturers.
The shoe department is on the other side of the department store, you need to go outside again and turn left. The prices there are also decent, as in Russia, so who is behind the shoes, prepare the money.
I didn't like the shoes to my taste when I was young, I wanted a little different, but the quality is good, I looked at the finish inside and outside of the soles.
The location is the city center, convenient for those who walk and can stop by on the way to see and buy something as a souvenir, gift.
I don't visit GUM very often, but it's always nice to go to the men's department. Friendly staff who know their product, which is rare now. We picked up my son's clothes for school in 30 minutes.
A wonderful beautiful department store, a symbol of a kind, irrevocably bygone era. The building itself is an architectural monument, there is a place to take photos for memory. In the men's section there is a wide selection of Belarusian textile brands, a lot of large-sized clothes, which was important for me. Slavic ethnic clothing is also presented, which I have not seen in Russia. The dining room has been preserved on the top floor since Soviet times, where the department store staff, as well as customers who know about it, dine.
The building is cool. The front door is on fire. They are changing and making repairs. A large selection of its own production. Lots of makeup. The prices are affordable. Requires a designation. It is not immediately clear that this is a store!
The place is wonderful - the city center, the assortment is large, even if not of the highest class, but you can find and pick up to taste. There are discounts on the store's card, which can be purchased immediately.
There is a decent dining room in the building where you can have a snack and take a breath!
The building is adjacent to other retail outlets along the street, in general it is compact and convenient.
Lately, I have been visiting the department store less and less often, because the promotions have become unclear, discounts all need to be found out at the checkout, the reader will not show you the true cost with a discount. Sellers respond sharply, they don't want to communicate much.
And today there was also disappointment in the cafe. Let's go with the child, he wanted a cake and a milkshake. We took 2 cocktails, 2 cakes - one honey, the second a Snickers roll. And what a horror we found in the runet Snickers - green mold!!!! I was shocked. How???? And my child ate the second cake, which is probably not fresh either.
When I approached the cashier (it was today 09/23/23 at 12.15 pm), she was so calm: Oh, how did it happen... And let's go through all the cakes. At first I gave one battered one, then I found more or less. But not a refund... but all the cakes are clearly from the same batch. And when I finally ate the "corrected" cake, there was a surprise waiting for me on the crust again. Only the black mold is already there. As a result, my son and I threw it all away and left... lawlessness. It's never been there before.
Be careful! Otherwise, after such a cafe, there is a risk of going to an infectious disease. I didn't make a fuss, realizing that nothing would change anyway, the mold would be cut off and it would end up in the window again. It's a pity, I got confused and didn't have time to take a photo.
Let the review help you be attentive to the quality of food in the cafe on the second floor of GUM.
The most interesting thing is that the saleswoman punched 2 honey cakes. Ostensibly, what difference does it make, because they are of the same value)))) so then show me what you ate and poisoned yourself with others)))
The building attracts with its architecture, after all, the main department store of the capital. And inside, greetings from the past, maybe, except that now there is more choice. Those who are looking for branded items are definitely not here.
A beautiful place, but what I needed, namely lightning, unfortunately, there is little choice
Lots of dishes and all sorts of beautiful things for comfort
A Great Department Store. There is everything you need: clothes, groceries, cosmetics, etc. I advise all guests of the city to visit. You definitely won't leave without shopping
On the first day of my arrival, I did not really like the attitude of the sellers, it feels like they are offended by the whole world. But the next day everything was very good, which means there was another shift. They approached us , offered their services, and suggested how to use discounts.
Of course, the sediment was not very pleasant.
Here I want to leave a thank you at the checkout on September 14, the seller was just from God, polite, showed everything and recommended what to take. There would be more sellers like that and tourists would leave more money.
Keep up a great salesman.
One of the largest department stores in Minsk. You can buy almost anything. The style is Soviet in architectural design. There is an elevator, but not everyone knows and sometimes they don't find it. It's a little stuffy in summer.
Great place, lots of cosmetics, clothes) everything is made in Belarus! As tourists, we really liked it there. Friendly staff. Discounts on weekends from 45 rubles. We collected some cool souvenirs as a gift. We recommend you to visit if you are in Minsk
Advice for those over 40 who are already used to a high level of service and an endless assortment - take a look at Minsk in GUM! And our 90s will come flooding in! And you will begin to appreciate the Russian metropolitan service even more! Especially impressionable , please do not go 😎
Drastic changes have taken place in GUM over the past few years: all departments have been very logically rebuilt, the range of goods has significantly expanded, and sellers are pleased with their competence.
A big plus is the presence of an elevator in the left wing of the building, a buffet with a cozy atmosphere, a dining room in the right wing of the building with quite tasty and relatively inexpensive lunches, a thematic photo zone between floors on the main staircase, which is updated quite often, large mirrors on both sides of the central entrance door (when leaving the store, you can always put yourself in order the order before going outside).
But despite all the advantages, there are several disadvantages:
1. The dining room is located on the 4th floor of the store, and you can only go up there on foot, which is quite inconvenient.
2. GUM is open until 21:00, and on Sunday until 20:00. Some department stores in the capital increase their opening hours by 1 hour on discount days, and this would also be logical for this store, given the location and a fairly large passability of customers.
3. In the last hour before the store closes, there is no notification about the remaining time until the end of the department store. During the hobby of shopping and trying on clothes, you don't always control the time. 3 minutes before closing, a salesman came up to us and asked if we would still punch something at the checkout. And only at exactly 20:00 (it was Sunday), an alert was sent through the speakers that the store was closed. In comparison: in the Central Department Store, for the last 30 minutes of work, a warning about the remaining time before closing is sounded several times and a request to hurry up with the choice of purchases and payment.
4. The toilet wants to be the best. The area is very small, in the general vestibule there is one cubicle for men and a couple of cubicles for women, there is almost never any toilet paper, soap too, the smell is always terrible.
Most of all, of course, the smell (almost the same as in public toilets), and the very condition of the plumbing.
The building visually adorns our city very much, the architects did their best. Over time, the retail space expanded due to the built-in buildings connected by huge spans. There are a lot of shopping establishments today! This hyper super market is very ancient compared to today's huge ones that have grown relatively recently. But, in this "shop" there is a little house in Minsk, Come, come - the metro is "next door", you will be welcome here. And what can you buy here? That's it! What's not there? Come and see for yourself! I invite you! However, the store is great!
One of the oldest shops in the city. Always pleases with a wide range of products and discounts. The mood begins already at the entrance with beautifully decorated showcases.
Expectation/reality. The windows from the street have a beautiful and stylish design. It seems that she is wearing modern clothes, but no. The interior has a beautifully preserved finishing style, but the clothes are like on the market or in a secondhand store. Well, it's expensive.
The only thing that was cool was a pair of peasant-style linen T-shirts. You can buy it for a photometer in the field or in the hayloft.
By the way, a good store "for the people", and not for the rich, as in Moscow. I bought myself good and inexpensive winter boots, in general, the choice is huge!! The shoe shop is located to the right of the main entrance, there is its own door.
It is located near Oktyabrskaya metro station. There is not enough space in the Departments. The staff is unfriendly. The overall impression is like in stagnant years. The assortment is not very diverse. A little charmed. There is one toilet on 3 floors.
