The hotel is very conveniently located in the very center. The building is not new, but there is a gradual renovation. Large, comfortable rooms, courteous staff.
An old hotel. The rooms (even though they have been restored) smell old and musty. A terrible little elevator that you have to wait for several minutes (a multi-storey hotel). In the middle of the day (it was from July 13 to 14, 2023), the hot water was turned off throughout the hotel. It was 40 degrees outside and coming to the room with a desire to take a shower, it did not work out. I was heating water in a kettle. The reception is deceived that there is no water in the whole city, although this is not the case. In general, the hotel is for an amateur, I will not stay here anymore. I give 2 stars only for the super location in the very center (located on the pedestrian Panfilov street) and a beautiful view of the mountains, if you are lucky with the room.
A good hotel. I was pleasantly pleased 30 years after the last visit. I had to leave ahead of schedule - the refund was very fast. There are many restaurants nearby
I remember the hotel since 1965. Lived nearby. It was the tallest building in Almaty, but also the most prestigious place in the city. Foreigners stayed there, there was a foreign exchange store and the city was really proud of this beautiful building. Now, after the renovation, she is reviving traditions. It seems that there is a very responsible management there who wants to succeed in competing with new, prestigious hotels built in the Western manner. But, strangely enough, freely or not, the hotel still has its own face, which differs from both new and Soviet ones, such as Kazakhstan, for example. The succession of times is correct.
Good breakfasts. Two new elevators. In winter, you realize that it is not adapted to the cold, one radiator per room, a heater can be given (it's useless, everything comes quickly). You can go to the bathroom 10-15 minutes after turning on the hot water, otherwise you can freeze. It's gorgeous in the summer, the air conditioning in the rooms.
I liked everything
Number
Location
Service
Polite staff
Food at Zina's restaurant👍
Room cleaning is good
The breakfasts are delicious
And most importantly, it is convenient to get to any point of the city
I was in this hotel more than 10 years ago. I was sorting through the photos and just found an evening photo of the hotel. Interestingly, I still remember that there used to be herring for breakfast on the buffet. :)
Nice hotel... beautiful mountain view.... Of course, everything is quite simple ... but it will work....

There is no room for one in the photo. It is about 11 sq. m. Smoky, some kind of musty stench, the mixer jams, old carpet, everything is old, yellow walls, a cabin with a knee-high side, you can't climb in with a sore knee, there is nowhere to put a tube in the booth, there is no dispenser with liquid soap. In a niche with a hanger on the floor there is a uniform and a laundry bag. Convenient for the elderly. Thanks for not on the ceiling. There is a small 0.5 liter of water in the room, the minibar clicks. Outside the window at 2 a.m. you can hear laughter, music and the hum of cars, only the child stopped running on the floor above. The ironing room is on the 6th floor. They don't smile at the counter. Apparently, the guests are not very welcome.
The location is excellent, near the Arbat, restaurants, etc. In general, the hotel itself is not bad, it costs its money, the rooms are a little shabby
A very tired Soviet hotel. By European standards, this is a two and a half star hotel. By the standards of Turkish hotels - three arrivals.
In addition to everything, in November 2023, repairs are underway throughout the hotel: a perforator works from morning to evening.
I really liked the hotel! Attentive, discreet staff. It's always clean. Beautiful view of the mountains.
I really liked how the founders of the hotel are revered, the whole history since its creation.
However, we stayed in a suite.
A great cozy hotel in the center of Almaty! Nice prices, and most importantly, there is a wonderful SPA center with wonderful masseuses. Got your back in order
A creepy old, not modern hotel. Water was supplied to the room only after contacting the reception. Before that, they said that it was "not allowed", at night the staff barged into my room (!) confusing it with the next one, where it was necessary to check the mini-bar after the departure of the guests. The repair is 30 years old. By the way, some rooms are still being renovated. And in the daytime, from 9 a.m., they drill and saw non-stop. The breakfast is moderately varied, but absolutely everything is tasteless. The photos on the Booking and the website do not correspond to reality.
If the view is of the mountains, then this is the best view. If you get a number on the back side, then it's a complete failure. So be sure to rent a room with a mountain view, everything is super in the location, the very center.
The hotel is good! it seems that there are repairs, but the rooms are small, the furniture is old (vintage). Room keys are often buggy, you have to go to the reception and reboot.
Depending on which room is offered, mostly good rooms. Although they gave me an old smoky room once, it was terrible. Good breakfasts, excellent location.
The hotel is good, it is located in the center, the room is very nice, the view is beautiful. One problem is the elevator. There are only 2 of them, but one didn't work.
There is trouble with the service in absolutely all hotels, this one is no exception.
They accept the number, they don't count on it before)
The breakfast is not bad, but the coffee is just a filter.
The staff doesn't give a damn about you.
Terribly uncomfortable pillows.
There are no questions about cleaning.
Great location.
The old Soviet smell of the sanatorium is everywhere in the hotel.
It could be better for its cost.
The breakfasts are not bad, the rooms are old but clean , the bathroom is not in the best condition , but you can survive a couple of days. By the way, thin walls, snoring and so on can be heard perfectly)
He lived on the 4th floor. The room is very cold, I had to turn on the air conditioner for heating. The renovation and all the furniture are very old. The lighting is dim. It is impossible to turn around in the shower stall and the water does not drain well.
At the moment (May 2023), the lower floors are being renovated, sometimes they work with a jackhammer in the evenings.
Of the good ones - Swedish breakfasts.
P. S. The upper floors have been renovated, settle above 5
It's huge, it's not bad inside the hotel, but the rooms are old and shabby in places, there is little comfort. I am pleased with the welcome inscription on the TV when checking in
No frills. To the best of the Turkish understanding of the beautiful. Turkish management is such a management... They pasted "blizir" (and apparently it was glued to toothpaste) and calmed down on that - "we still have to beat off the dough." In short, almost no money was invested - the wiring is so dead that in order to drink tea in the room (and not drink - go to the bar) or use a hair dryer, you must first go around all the neighbors on the floor and ask them not to turn on electrical appliances yet, otherwise no one will have light for a long time. The air conditioners were left by the condos, which were still left by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Kazakh SSR. Who, if there's one thing they can do well, it's buzz. But! The hotel is still right in the central center of the city. It is surrounded by pedestrian areas with a huge number of cafes. Which is extremely convenient. Mountain view. View of the Bolshoi Theater of local bottling. (but let's not get angry - the theater building is gorgeous. the Communist Party did not spare any money at the time). And the main thing for a traveler is the price per room. She's humanly pleasant.
