An interesting place, everything is very massive, it smells of mysticism and antiquity! At the moment it is in a deplorable, dilapidated state, but it adds an atmosphere of antiquity
If there were trains running in Abkhazia, then the platform would most likely be working. There are only 2 trains from Moscow and St. Petersburg in Abkhazia, so the platform is not in operation, but these trains pass by it. The building itself is being restored. There are picturesque places around: a river, a waterfall, a cafe.
This is one of the most beautiful places in Abkhazia! I am very glad that they finally decided to restore it!! In this beautiful place, not real emotions can be experienced) I recommend it!! 💯 %
It's a beautiful place, but the train doesn't stop here. Parking a little further from the New Athos railway station. Near the waterfall, the grotto of Simon Kananita.
The platform is a 5-minute walk from the New Athos Monastery. It is securely hidden by mountains, which are buried in greenery. At the moment, the station is not operational, but there are a lot of tourists here in the summer. Despite the fact that all the windows have been broken for a long time, you can understand how great she was. The floor is decorated with ornaments, as well as the ceiling, carved platbands, and the roof arch, massive wrought-iron benches. It kind of reminds me of a Chinese flashlight. If you are near the New Athos Monastery, be sure to look here. And you can get out from the other side and visit the famous New Athos caves. Everything is within walking distance.
Of course, parking here will be paid :)
But otherwise it's great. It's like something out of a movie. It is certainly a pity that everything is in such decline, if it were restored, it would be chic and shiny in general. And so- the devastation against the background of the tropics, it looks quite atmospheric. Nearby, transparent canoe boats ride along the micro lake. Nearby is a colorful restored waterfall of the hydroelectric power station, which was built by the New Athos monks. Be careful, the steps are slippery!
A popular place among instagrammers. Some angles are really very good, but the place itself is small, rather overgrown. We haven't been here very long, it's worth just stopping by on the way to other attractions, as a nice addition to the trip, and not the main point of the route.
It's beautiful, it was a stop point for a tour of Abkhazia, I won't tell you anything particularly impressive)) It was beautiful , and the rainbow was from splashing water
A very interesting monument. It clearly shows how creatively they used to approach the issue of the design of archetypal objects. When you stand on the platform, it involuntarily seems that a steam locomotive is about to come out of the tunnel, followed by old green wagons.
It is a pity that the forged grilles were removed from the station building at the "Pcyrsha" stop. Because of this, only 4 stars, not five. Now there is someone who has decided to use the beautiful building for tourist needs - it seems that there will be a restaurant. Cosmetic repairs are underway. They paint. And the platform with benches and lanterns is quite. Stalin's Empire style.
It is a very beautiful place in Abkhazia. We definitely need to go there. Reconstruction has now begun. The station is not in operation, but you can see the trains.
An interesting place. The limiters at the entrance to the tunnel are depressing. There are stupidly stretched standard tapes that break out of the local atmosphere. If I were the local owners or those in charge of the place, I would order something more authentic from the craftsmen, which would look beautiful in the photos. The place itself is beautiful. There is also a nature reserve with a temple in a cave. Entrance is paid, but the place is worth a visit, since you have already reached the station.
This is the top 2 in new Athos. The incredible beauty on the way to the platform and the place itself will not leave anyone indifferent.
Mystical beauty.
If you imagine the days when it was working and well maintained.. eh..
If you are traveling as part of an excursion, then take the time to go.
Guides don't take you there. Well, or not all of them.
Old school, I can imagine how beautiful she used to be. At least they restored it qualitatively-there would be no price! It has been standing since 1944
They say the station will be repaired this year. Access to it is possible on foot, bypassing the waterfall and the beautiful backwater with turquoise water. Here you can go boating with a transparent bottom. You can get to the car through the tunnel. This is a small corner of peace and quiet.
Nicely. It's a pity that money is collected everywhere and for everything.

The station was built in 1944 and at first was called "Dacha", because nearby is the state dacha of Stalin, the construction of which ended in 1947.
In 1967, the station was renamed after the nearby Psyrtskha River, which means "Fir spring" in Abkhaz.
Since 2009, trains have been running non-stop at this station.
The Psyrtskha station pavilion is located among picturesque rocks and overhangs an artificial lake with emerald-colored water, which falls like a waterfall down the riverbed.
The artificial waterfall was built by Russian monks from the New Athos Monastery in 1909 to operate a mini hydroelectric power plant.
The diesel engine for the hydroelectric power plant was donated by Emperor Alexander III, during his arrival with his family in New Athos, to lay the foundation stone for the construction of the central Cathedral of St. Panteleimon in the complex of the New Athos monastery.
In addition to the diesel engine, Emperor Alexander III presented the monastery with musical chimes for the bell tower in the center of the western building and a steam locomotive for the monastery railway.
In memory of the visit of Emperor Alexander III, the monks were:
- two commemorative plaques were installed indicating the date of the visit and the names of his family members (at the artificial waterfall and on the wall of the Cathedral),
- a chapel has been built at the pier,
- cypresses have been planted along the route of the royal family.
(Currently, part of the path is called "Tsarskaya Alley".)
The Psyrtskha station platform is one of the many beautiful places in New Athos, where now only time leaves its destructive imprint.
I recommend visiting here.
You will experience mixed feelings, but this place remains beautiful, despite everything.
It's a very beautiful place. A must-visit. It's a pity you can't go through the tunnel. Fine. And in general, except for the platform, there is nowhere along the tracks. But there is an opportunity to ride a transparent boat for 500 rubles/person in 20 minutes.
👍One of the sights of New Athos. In July 2023, restoration work was carried out at the station, so the inspection is limited. You can approach through the waterfall.
The view here is awesome, now something is being restored. There are fish swimming in the pond/river. Complete relaxation.
There are no excursions here (right here, on the platform). Cleanliness-well, I won't say that everything is out, but it's not dirty either.
I can imagine how it was and looked before, in the distant Soviet years! This is a fabulous station, incredibly beautiful! I hope that it will be restored and made even more beautiful than before
I like everything in Abkhazia! This is the country of the soul! Yes, everything is old, dilapidated. But I lived in the USSR! For me, this is history. There is something to compare it with. The place is clean, you can book a tour.
It's a beautiful place, so it's a pity that part of the time it was abandoned and lost its original appearance. And once upon a time, they actively used it and made films. Nearby is a gorgeous backwater turning into a waterfall.
A good place, but you need to understand at what time you are going, we were in the fall there is not much water and almost everything is covered with algae, but the fish is clearly visible, definitely YES!!!
