Parking was finally sorted out, thanks a lot for that, now the departure and arrival of local flights is more convenient than before, I take off one star for unrealistically expensive parking and high prices inside the airport, you can somehow resolve this issue, they don't even take three, but all the skins
A small airport for the largest city in the country. A poor dude. It is difficult to have a snack in the departure area, the prices are too high. The cafe in the waiting area has the same story. Parking is expensive - it is better not to leave the car at the port. The parking lot is small - it's clogged, it's hard to find a place. In general, it is provincial and dreary.
The international flights lounge is disgusting. It was the first time I saw that there was nowhere to sit, people were being driven in huge packs, there were no places, there was nothing to breathe.
And when we saw the queue for check-in and baggage check-in, we couldn't believe our eyes that this was possible. The whole plane, 250 people are standing in a huge queue, so they also closed one window, all in one window, like a bottleneck. It is not organized at all, the question to the management is why such a mess?
Why is everything not organized?
Why is everything done to make people stressed? Employees are rude, emotional. I have not seen this at any airport in Russia and Europe
Unlike the waiting room for domestic flights, everything is fine here, there are places, it's cool. Why there is such a difference is not clear.
but!! If you are on a domestic flight with luggage, arrive an hour in advance to check your luggage yourself. This is full speed ahead... Who invented this? The airport staff at the counters can't really explain how to check in the luggage, then they are outraged that they incorrectly pasted tags on the luggage ...
Guys, glue and register yourself - this is your job!
Why do people have to run back and forth with luggage five times to get proper information? There was no person near the terminals that check in luggage, there was no one to ask. You stand there and figure it out yourself. We, the young ones, figured it out. And if an elderly person?
So for a domestic flight, take an hour to check in your luggage.
A gorgeous new international airport. Everything is clear and understandable, the service is excellent, a large number of cafes where you can spend time between transfers.
The new airport. After the repair. We expanded the interior space and increased the number of cafes and fast food outlets.
Cons: there are no parking spots, traffic jams are constantly queuing. 2 stars are deserved.
Because of parking, visiting the airport is always a nerve-wracking event for me. Last time on 08/22/24 I couldn't pay for a long time before leaving. The payment did not go through. I parked the car next to the exit so as not to create a traffic jam at the barrier, found an employee and it turned out that the exit was free and the barrier would rise when I drove up to it. There were no announcements. I've wasted my nerves and time. Or you could just raise the barriers.
There is literally one free space in the parking lot. There are very long queues in the second terminal, I haven't been in the first one since the construction of the second one. After registration, there is a security check and passport control, but the fences go in different directions like a pinball machine. And again, the queues are huge. There are no drinking fountains anywhere, you have to buy water for 500 tenge in vending machines. Chips for 3500, don't expect snacks at the airport. Maximum in aatomats
As always, crowds of people, delays and rescheduling flights. Last time I flew to Zhezkazgan, the flight was delayed as usual. We sat and waited at the other entrance, because where entrance 3 was, everything was packed. We saw that boarding had begun, we went to land, but the airport staff did not let us in, said that there was a landing in Shymkent, as a result, after some time of disputes with the staff, they realized that we also had a landing there and missed, but at the same time they ran over us already on landing that we were late for the plane; although the plane itself was delayed for 2 hours 😑
An old airport in need of renovation. The boarding announcements are inaudible, the employees are running and shouting at the entire announcement hall, nice of course for such a personal approach. There was no WI-FI at the time of my presence.
Clean, sparsely populated. The cafes are not bad for a waiting room. Not chic, but not unpretentious either.Everything is convenient.Border guards try not to create a queue.
If possible, do not fly through this airport. It's a complete horror, a small airport not adapted for international transit flights from the word at all (you won't even find where to sit, I'm silent about everything else). We flew to Vietnam through it, both flights departing from it were postponed for 4-6 hours, a hotel near the airport for homeless people, do not even think about staying there.
With the opening of the new terminal, it has definitely become better and easier. The new dutyfree is gorgeous🔥
In the internal terminal, you can sometimes get confused in finding your gate😞
I wanted to put more stars, but I need to be honest and critical of the situation. Frankly speaking, the airport is not the best, even considering that I have not been to different countries, but based on the video, it is obvious from the movie footage that this is a mediocre airport. I'm not talking about architectural solutions, but the organization of space, furniture, decoration, everything is extremely cheap. It seems that this is just a suburban bus station of huge size. For the capital of a country that produces oil, gas and a whole bunch of metals and minerals that some countries can only dream of, this is a very weak airport
It is quite worthy of a cafe, an exchanger 24/7, clean Parking, large ATMs, inspection, quick boarding through the sleeve, a lot of information boards, close to the city, right in the city.
May the Kazakhs forgive me, the airport does not look like an international airport at all. It cannot be compared with the airport in the big cities of Russia. There's nothing to worry about either. An absolutely subjective review.
It is more like a suburban train station in size. There were no problems with the staff, everything was polite and cultured. It pulls from the smoking room to 2 floors. Constant aircraft delays of 30-60 minutes. They explain the problems with luggage. It doesn't matter if you've arrived or are leaving. Upon arrival, they were not allowed out of the plane (allegedly it was necessary to unload the luggage so as not to violate the position of the aircraft)), after departure they sat on the plane for an hour again because the luggage did not have time to load…
A small airport building. Quick check-in for flights. Assistance in choosing seats on the plane. The DUTY FREE zone is one store with perfumes, alcohol and things. One modest hall (GATE1A) for waiting for the bus. The buses are old; sometimes they stand for a long time with a crowd of passengers inside, taking their time to take them to the ramp.
Pokrovka is always being built all the time, passengers are not properly provided for taxis for domestic flights, the guards always drive everyone away, the 15-minute limit is very strict
The domestic flight terminal is a nightmare. And it starts at the entrance to the airport. For some reason, the airport administration leaves only 2 entry barriers working and traffic stops almost completely. Before entering, a huge traffic jam forms and you have to get out of the car and walk to the airport with your suitcases. And the roads are poorly adapted for this. For this reason, I recommend leaving in advance. The departure lounge is small and all seats are often occupied. There are a lot of scammers and beggars working in the hall, who, under various pretexts, try to beg for money - do not give anything to anyone! You will also be offered to take a parcel with you (including police officers) do not take anything from them!
Planes of local airlines (low-cost airlines)in 2 out of 3 cases, they will fly out later. This is most likely why check-in opens not 2 hours before departure, but an hour before.if the flight is delayed, then most likely you will not receive any food or a hotel. Complaints do not work, employees will say write a letter to the head - then they will figure it out. Those who start to complain will be removed from the flight. I was personally present at such cases several times.
Upon arrival at this airport, you may encounter a large delay in baggage claim, once I waited about 1.5 hours. No one has been able to explain why this happened.
If you want to leave the airport, then you will either have to wait 20-30 minutes for a taxi, because only 2 barriers work at the entrance (more often at night) or walk with your luggage from the airport to your taxi driver, who will be in traffic.
These inconveniences are related to the reconstruction of the airport. I really hope that the administration plans to remove the parking lot opposite the exit of the internal terminal building and make 5 lanes for entry and 5 lanes for passengers boarding taxis.
So far, it is an airport at the level of a small provincial town. It is very uncomfortable and uncomfortable. I hope that after the reconstruction the main problems will be solved.

I've
probably seen too many other airports...
it's just too easy for an international airport in the country. Inconvenient. I felt uncomfortable upon arrival. One cafe, a couple of stalls selling SIM cards. I'll add a star for this, now they are rated 3! The guys are young, sociable, helped, prompted. They helped me buy a SIM card, insert it, activate it. They came up humanly. There are few seats in the airport building, so I had to take a seat in a cafe.
The taxi rank is unclear.
Sorry, I'm not impressed.
It's more interesting on departure. A dutik.
As I understand it, there is an eternal traffic jam at the entrance to the airport. Some kind of traffic jamb. Set an additional time for departure, 15 minutes for sure.
The airport is quite convenient.
Everything is intuitive in terms of movement and logistics.
The only disadvantage is that there is a shortage of parking spaces.
While repairs are underway, everything is clumsy and fussy. The organization of an impeccable flow is not very good, the repair is the same... Therefore, 4 stars.
After the renovation, I hope it will be what it needs - a city with such a great history is simply obliged to present to those arriving not only the beauty of the surrounding mountains, but also the international level of comfort!
Duty free is not bad. In general, the airport is comfortable. There are not enough cafes and restaurants. The prices are not prohibitive, but they are still high, especially for local products. In principle, prices for products of our own production could be made lower, demand would be higher
Dutik is not particularly rich yet. Customs is not annoying. A friend managed to miss boarding his flight while sitting in the drive next to his gate. Why they didn't call him, why they didn't let him in when the ramp was still standing by the plane - I don't understand. These are probably local features. Otherwise, an ordinary airport. There is plenty of transport towards the city. There are bombed taxi drivers who rip off visitors. It's easier to call Yandex or ask someone to be called. You can take any bus and get to the city. The city itself is small.
It was my first time at this airport.I really liked it.everything is simple and clear. On the ground floor there are tables with red chairs where you can charge your phone.
The exchange office at the airport on the ground floor seemed to be deliberately creating a stir, the employee defiantly slept with her mouth open and ignored everyone. There was a huge queue at the exchange on the second floor. But the situation was saved by taxi drivers scurrying next to the queue and offering a profitable course.
Terrible service even at check-in, they managed to organize corruption, flew away on 10.10.2024, the girl at the check-in behaved disgustingly, it felt like she put us on her plane for free, there was a queue in economy, later business class caught fire, she began to drive us like cattle saying that she would not serve us, a man passed in front of us eight and everyone said that the business class later turned out that they were also economy class, apparently they were relatives, they also flew with us in the economy and in the end, this girl gave us places near the emergency exits, although she was asked that after the operation. Keep an eye on your employees, this is lawlessness, even at registration they manage to plant such incompetent employees, probably someone's relative
A good airport, with Russian currency and cards, unfortunately, you are flying home, in general, everyone understands everything, but when the flight is delayed by 2 hours, they will not pour coffee.
It is a pity that in a city like Almaty, in the tourist center of our country, there is such an airport. Our city deserves a modern, spacious one with lots of parking spaces (!!!) the air harbor. If you develop tourism, you need to start from the place where the tourist first stays in order to form a first impression. I hope the new terminals will meet all modern requirements.
There are only 2 coffee shops in the departure area and few chairs. Everything is done only after passing through customs control, and it is inconvenient if you arrive in advance. There is a Wi-Fi connection
Not an airport, but a big bazaar with different legs. Getting things after landing is a big problem. And the cashiers are annoyed, especially the cashiers of the Shymkent SKAT airline!
Four months ago, a second building with international departures was opened. The entrance is from the second floor. Very compact, inside modern access control systems, fast control.
The airport is at the level of the regional center, which is now Almaty. Against the background of the noticeable development of the city's infrastructure, the airport is what it was. Convenient from the point of view of information, with courteous staff and a free trade area. But that's yesterday.
It's not a big airport. But comfortable. There is little parking space. Car traffic is just game, although this game is all over the city as a whole. There is no driving culture at all. But this does not apply to the airport itself.
In general, everything is not bad, fast and clear. Prices in dutik are high, they were cheaper in ordinary shops in Almaty.
It's a great airport and the city is amazing!
There is only one nuisance to keep in mind. It is necessary to take the film with you to pack your luggage properly, I did not do this in the hope that I could use this service at the airport, but for some reason it was closed there. As a result, some valuable items were missing from my luggage.
I was in the new terminal. They came up with everything very modernly. The toilets are perfectly clean. I was pleased with the drinking water fountain, which is a big plus right away.
