You can not pass by, the fortress rises majestically above the city. In addition to the recreation area in front of the entrance, scooters, cars, attractions for children, camel riding and other weekend activities))
The walls of the fortress are built unusually, memorably, with logs sticking out of them, apparently a frame. The entrance is expensive, 60,000 SOM, about 450rubles per adult, with a paid and uncomfortable toilet.
The main area of the fortress is ruins, they say that Frunze used cannons to establish the power of the Soviets here.
There is a platform for photos, I will not say that it is a good place.
The museum is small, and the numismatics exhibition is in a depressing state. The fortress makes a cooler impression from the outside than from the inside. In my opinion, an external inspection is quite enough)))
Ark Citadel in Bukhara: a symbol of greatness and history
The Ark Citadel is one of the most majestic and significant buildings in Bukhara, which is a real pearl of the historical heritage of Uzbekistan. Towering over the ancient part of the city, Ark is not just a fortress, but a whole complex that has been the residence of Bukhara rulers and a symbol of power for centuries. This is a place where legends come to life, and every stone holds memories of the past. 🏰
The citadel was built long before our era, and according to legend, it became the basis for the entire ancient Bukhara. Its massive walls, stretching for several hundred meters, protected palaces, treasury, mosques and even the inner bazaar. Important historical sites such as a mosque, palace rooms and the remains of a harem are still preserved inside the Arch, which allow you to look into the life and culture of bygone eras.
Especially impressive are the arched gates and walls of the citadel, which have retained their majestic appearance even after millennia. Today, the Ark is a museum complex where tourists can see collections of archaeological finds, ancient weapons, art objects and much more. This place not only tells about the past, but also demonstrates the uniqueness of Bukhara architecture.

a very atmospheric historical place. There is a good museum exhibit and a lot of souvenir shops. Restoration work was still underway on part of the territory. entrance to the territory is paid, but you can visit all the small halls with exhibits collected in Soviet times.
Ark is the oldest part of Bukhara, a city within a city, towering 16-20 m above the main square of the fortress. Now there is a museum-reserve there. The complex of buildings of the 17th and 20th centuries. and archaeological excavations of a large part of the hill, where 45 years ago it was possible to reach the ruins of the ancient fortress wall of the 4th century BC. It is an unusual feeling to wander through this destroyed and not yet restored part of the Arch...
Ark (Uzbek Ark) is an ancient citadel in Bukhara in modern Uzbekistan; a monumental fortress towering almost 20 meters above the level of the surrounding area and covering an area of about 4 hectares. The fortress is the oldest architectural and archaeological monument in Bukhara. It is considered the most ancient part of the city with centuries-old layers of crumbling structures that formed a hill.
An interesting place that just reeks of antiquity. It is simply amazing how grandiose structures were created in ancient times, which had to be constantly repaired due to the peculiarities of the building material and climate.
Unfortunately, a small part is allowed for inspection, which has been restored. The passage to the excavation site is not organized.
The entrance fee of 60,000 soums (about 500 rubles per person) is quite expensive, considering that there are many attractions in Bukhara, and the budget of the trip is not rubbery.
The symbol of Bukhara, an interesting place, beautiful architecture, the approximate duration of the visit is 2 hours. The fortress offers views of the entire city. Within walking distance to other historical sites.
ARK
According to the testimony of the 10th century historian an-Narshahi, Bukhara was originally called Numijket. The foundation of the city was an Arch, built at the turn of the century on a hill with an area of approx. 3 ha . The Arch housed the palace and the governor's office, security facilities, and a temple.
According to legends, the Arch was built by the epic hero Siyavush. Bukharians honored his grave at the eastern gate and annually sacrificed roosters there on the days of Navruz. The Bukhara citadel acquired its modern appearance during the reign of the Mangit dynasty (1747-1920). At that time, Ark was the center of Bukhara statehood. The amir's palace, mosques, treasury, government chancellery and prison were located here. The main entrance to the Arch overlooks the Registan city Square. There are towers along the edges of the entrance gate, connected at the top by a gallery. There used to be a whip hanging over the gate, symbolizing the power and authority of the amir. The buildings of the Arch were damaged during the storming of the city by Red Army units in 1920, when Bukhara was subjected to artillery shelling and aerial bombardment.
A grandiose structure. We spent 2 hours inside, looking with interest at all the rooms and exhibits, the excavations. It is a pity that the fortress and the buildings inside were so badly destroyed, but nevertheless it makes a powerful impression, fantasy paints scenes of the life of the local inhabitants a couple of centuries ago... At its foot, outside on the square, camels and electric cars take tourists who wish to explore the surrounding area.
I definitely recommend you to visit. A unique place that allows you to admire the rich history of Uzbekistan. The fortress offers a view of the city, especially beautiful in the evening, after sunset.
The fortress wall and towers have been quite soundly restored. The entrance group is especially good. There is a small museum inside, for a city with such a history, the room is not enough.
You can say this is the "Kremlin" of Bukhara. A very well-renovated citadel. There are many museums inside. From the outside, there are huge walls and a well-groomed area for walking.
This is probably the main place that you must definitely visit in Bukhara. This is an archaeological site on the territory of which excavations are being conducted. The citadel is a fortress with a mosque, a throne room and several museums.
A very majestic fortress. A significant part of the wall has been reconstructed. To see the wall before the reconstruction, you need to walk around the fortress. There are expositions inside. But there is no interactivity, no animation.
One of the best historical museums in Uzbekistan. You can safely take 1.5 - 2 hours for inspection, because inside there is a large territory and several rather voluminous expositions.
A great place, a historical monument, the territory is well-groomed, clean, comfortable, there are also several points with various goods on the territory, there is a free toilet. There are many photo zones on the top, and in the evening there is a beautiful view of the city. I work until 22:00, the entrance ticket is 40,000 soums for tourists
It's a very beautiful place. I advise everyone to visit this Arch. There are historical monuments, various souvenirs, and you can hire guides who can help you explore the history.
I took a tour for 180 soums (including ticket) they told about the history of the citadel and showed where the rooms were located. It's not terribly interesting, but it's still a little more informative than watching on your own. In principle, there are signatures in the museum, and you can do it without a tour.
It is interesting to look at the goods that were brought to Bukhara from different countries, as well as what Bukhara exported. There are pictures of caravans somewhere under the ceiling, I would like to pay more attention to the everyday life and the peculiarities of these trips.
Part of the museum is under renovation, some rooms are closed, and the storefronts are empty.
Not a city, but a fairy tale. There are a lot of architectural monuments on a very small square. It feels like I've moved through time. If you are in Khiva, be sure to go to any terrace at sunset, but book your place in advance!
The citadel is striking in size, a huge hill enclosed in sloping brick walls. There are few structures inside, and the ancient mosque is particularly impressive. Very beautiful sunsets can be observed on the walls of the fortress.
An interesting place with informative museums and gorgeous views of the Old Town. The paid toilet spoiled the impression a little. Otherwise, it will be interesting to get acquainted with the history of Bukhara and the emirate.
One of the attractions of the city that is not directly related to religion.
A beautiful fortress, it was once repeatedly subjected to destruction, the last of which was 100 years ago. Most of the internal buildings were destroyed (up to 80%, according to estimates), however, the remaining percentages of the fortress and buildings allow us to assess the once winter residence of the emir.
There is a place to spend time and there is something to see. Historical materials and objects from different times are presented in the preserved rooms of the fortress.
The old and modern parts of Bukhara are clearly visible from the fortress.
A huge attraction, a museum of local lore, a lot of artifacts, it's interesting, it's a little late, you can take a lot of photos, I really liked it. There are many additional museums available, go and see - flora, fauna, cotton.. information about courses, the Silk Road
It is a very beautiful, historical place worth visiting if you are in Bukhara. However, there is one big PROBLEM. This is the difference in prices for tourists and for locals. There are 60,000 soums for tourists, and 10,000 for locals! Therefore, be careful and I advise the local administration to reconsider this pricing policy.
This is a must-visit place in Bukhara. Entry 53,000 :) Catfish. A huge fortress, several museum exhibitions on various topics, the beginning of Bukhara and further upward. The views of the old town from the fortress walls are magnificent. After the fortress, we went to the nearby Zindan prison building. A picturesque place. They drive electric cars around the fortress for money, but I didn't go, I had to soak up the story on foot.
If you ever come to Bukhara, be sure to visit all the sights of this city.
Experience this flavor of the old town
Try their famous kurtoba dishes
Be sure to take a walk through the small streets
A grandiose structure. Be sure to take a guide, there are many interesting things in museums. In the evening, after sunset, a beautiful view of the center of the old town.
Incredible strength and power. We went through everything inside with such pleasure. Interesting, beautiful, instructive. Lots of souvenirs. The museums have air conditioners, which saves you from the heat. I recommend this place to visit!
An interesting place from the point of view of the antiquity of the original object. It is not encouraging that many information signs indicate that the greatest destruction and damage was caused by the Bolsheviks in the 20s, although in the pre-revolutionary photos everything was destroyed and abandoned, the local bais did not care about anything. And nowhere is it indicated that the main restoration of the objects was carried out under the USSR. It's very unfortunate. It applies to both Bukhara and Samarkand.
A monumental fortress in the most ancient part of the city. Semicircular walls with logs sticking out of them are a very unusual structure that will not make you pass by. The entrance is 60,000 soums. We visited in the evening, there were no guides, no excursions were offered, but this did not stop us from walking around the fortress, visiting all the corners, admiring the architecture and views.
It's beautiful and atmospheric. From an engineering point of view, it's also interesting: they built a fortress not on a hill, but out of a hill. An example for modern designers and builders about cost reduction
An incredibly atmospheric place. There are many locations for beautiful shots. The guides are wonderful. I recommend visiting Bukhara. In 2 days you can see everything
My children and I generally hung out at archaeological sites overlooking the minaret.
The museum is interesting, it is quite free inside. The spirit of antiquity is felt. Thanks to the restorers, you can feel how the inhabitants of Bukhara used to live. Restoration continues, the eastern wall is being restored. You can take many beautiful photos of the city.
A historic place! The first thing you notice is the parts of the towers protruding from the wall. It is a very unusual sight, the citadel looks very massive and interesting from the outside! And there are camels there) you can ride, or you can take pictures, while trying to pet the wayward animal. The photo is cheaper, don't forget)
I'm taking off the star for the contents of the fortress itself. There is a very weak exposure inside - honestly, you don't have to go in. A huge excavation site, a view from the fortress wall, and everything else, perhaps - everything else did not arouse any interest at all. I didn't understand what the fee was for)
I must say right away, this location is under the protection of UNESCO.
It's an epic place, and sometimes it even makes you uneasy from what you see, in particular how vicious murderers and criminals, means of execution and coercion were kept. For the first time I saw with my own eyes a zendan with figures of prisoners.
A couple of tips: it's better to come here on weekdays and be sure to hire a guide, in the heat it's better to bring water with you. It is convenient to travel by electric car, the drivers of which are not bad guides and you can save money on this.
Those who have reached Uzbekistan, be sure to visit the sights of Bukhara and Samarkand. The people here are very friendly, open and hospitable, and you will remember their oriental cuisine all your life.
Sincerely, Albert Fatihovich Kulgunin
A monumental structure, it looks large-scale, an interesting configuration of the walls. There are a lot of beautiful historical buildings around. Nearby there is a park with restaurants, ice cream and children's attractions.
