Customs on both sides works well and correctly. Uzbekistan just thoroughly inspected everything without delay.
The fact that there should be no queue for sale, but there should be a sufficient number of posts to allow such a number of people not for days and not for the purchase of a queue, three stars. Because the possibility of buying a queue from units, and the rest to stand is a mockery and shame.

I went to visit my parents and relatives at 23. We arrived closer to 6 p.m., the end of May, the heat, the crowd of people, cars. we stood in the car for several hours from Kazakhstan, then in the neutral zone, then running around with luggage, passports, inspections, tinting, a bunch of windows, it's unclear why..We went out in Uzbekistan at 3 am!
We decided to go in the opposite direction in the afternoon, there was almost no queue from Uzbekistan, we crossed the border in about forty minutes, customs officers were a little late on the Kazakh side, they were interested in our trip, from where and how we were traveling, how it was on the Uzbek side..
In total, about two hours, then on the way to Troitskaya, the border was much faster here. to Kazakhstan that to Russia, despite the queues being 4 times longer.
Three stars for the border guards, they're doing their best. Well, it's a minus two, because on the Kazakh side, nimble people run and pull cars for money without waiting in line.

I got on a long weekend (May 2023), when crowds of migrant workers were marching from Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan. Customs officers from Kazakhstan did not regulate the flow in any way. At the same time, cunning local teenagers formed groups of 2-3 people, led them through the way to the exit from customs and passed through a hole next to the Kazakh customs officer, slipping it "into his pocket". At the same time, the main stream was crowding in a crush, small children were screaming, because they could really be crushed. In the heat, people felt sick, the customs officers did not react to this in any way.

I passed the border at the end of October - the border is like a border, normal, without queues, without traffic jams, without extortionists. Yes, the employees are not very friendly, but it's not the service sector that everyone smiles at you.
Important note: I passed the border on foot. Perhaps it would not be superfluous for the previous commentators to indicate their path, since I do not know how to walk by car or bus, and the drivers accordingly have no idea about walking.
There were 5 people in front of me, in total, in half an hour I passed both Uzbek and Kazakh border guards. The usual questions were asked, nothing out of the ordinary happened.
