Everyone should visit it at least once, the journey begins on a steam train, a very interesting excursion, the volumes are impressive, this is the largest cave in the world, keep in mind that in the season the wait can be 4 hours or more, since tour buses book tickets if you use paid parking on your transport, there are many interesting places in the circle so That there will be no boring waiting
A very beautiful cave impresses with its size and beauty! But there are also disadvantages, this is the smell inside the cave and it is better to put on a blouse coolly, although at the entrance you can rent a plaid for only 100 rubles. It is better to come in the first half of the day, otherwise you may not get there because of the excursions a lot of people are going to see.
A wonderfully organized tour.
The female guide is a highly qualified specialist with a wealth of experience behind her. A man who was really interesting to listen to. The scale and views are amazing. Musical accompaniment, lighting - everything is done correctly. The train is quite fresh, no worse than the metro in Moscow.)
You don't want to go back to such a place, but good impressions remain for a lifetime.
The caves are amazing in their size. The description and photos do not convey the grandeur of this place. It's really worth a visit. The guide tells stories related to caves and is ready to answer questions.
When visiting, it is worth considering that the temperature inside the caves is much lower than outside - a down jacket is certainly not needed, but a warm windbreaker or hoodie will not hurt. Although at the entrance they rent something like a plaid, warm enough.
It is better to pay more attention to shoes - in addition to being cool in caves, it is also quite damp, and in some places water just flows. As a result, it is slippery in places, so it is better not to go there in flip-flops. Ideally, sports sandals or sneakers.
I liked it, atmospheric, unusual, I really liked the acoustic music. There are difficulties with acquiring tickets, it is necessary to arrive early, preferably before the opening, because tourists buy tickets in bulk.
We were on an excursion in October 2024 with our family, it is an unforgettable experience and a powerful atmosphere. An excellent guide, and we got to the depths of the cave by mini train, bought small souvenirs inside the cave. There was an excursion for more than an hour. I recommend it for a visit.
Awesome place
The tour takes an hour and a half. Very interesting. Starting from the subway car leading into the cave, to the "waterfall" in the last hall. The musical and lighting accompaniment is very appropriate!!!
The scale is impressive!
Definitely need to visit!!!
An excellent picturesque place, the passage through the halls is illuminated, beautiful formations and cave lakes are highlighted.
The group is accompanied by a guide through the cave, tells about this attraction and about the halls.
The cave is mandatory to visit, it leaves a lot of positive emotions. Some rooms are just -wow!
It is better to take a jacket or a thin jacket with you, inside 14 °.
In summer, the queues at the ticket office are long, we waited an hour.
It's better to come here for the opening.
And the most ideal option is to climb the Anakopia fortress at 5-6 am, and then immediately visit the cave, we descended from Anakopia around 10 am, there were almost no people.
A good tour and the views are impressive for those who have never seen caves. Those who know a little about geology will like it. The children are not happy, they say the most boring things for them. By the way, you don't have to pay 50 rubles for a shooting permit, no one checks anything and no one needs it, absolutely everyone takes pictures.
A place to visit is a must when visiting Abkhazia. The cave fascinates with its distinctive appearance. A walk through the cave is accompanied by national folklore, and the story of the formation and discovery of this cave also complements the impression.
An extremely interesting place to visit, created by nature. The organization of the process leaves much to be desired - a waiting room without air conditioning, a paid toilet in the mud, be careful - the time in Abkhazia is the same, but the clock in Mobile phones jumps, so the date of the visit on the ticket may not be clear. What the employees forget to tell you, at first you just hear a shout and go away - this is not your time. In caves, it is always up to + 10 degrees, be sure to take warmer things, otherwise after the heat outside, the tour goes for 1 hour, there is a chance of getting sick. I do not recommend it to small children, it is damp, cold and incomprehensible to them.
But. If you don't get hung up on poor service, everything is just fine - ancient Colchis is incredibly beautiful and charismatic!!!😘
Without a doubt, one of the best places in Abkhazia. Be sure to visit all tourists, you will not regret it. We have been here twice and both are delighted! Especially when you plunge into the mysterious coolness of these caves from the heat of the street. I won't describe it, as they say - it's better to see it once!
Delight! The best impressions! It's huge and mysterious. It is very well equipped for tourist excursions. Many thanks to all the people who came up with it, organized it and gives us the opportunity to admire this miracle.
Be sure to visit the cave! A very interesting tour, the lighting is super! A huge cave of 6 halls! Delight! The price of the visit is acceptable. Minus the paid parking.
A truly unique place where you can feel like a real caver. Very beautiful halls, an interesting tour. I advise you to take a jacket with you, as it is quite cool in the cave.
We visited the cave in August 2024, we really liked it - the narration, musical accompaniment, lighting 👍 1.5 hours flew by quickly. The only recommendation is to buy a ticket in advance, it is very long in summer, you can stand in the heat for 30 minutes and buy a ticket for the tour, which will be in 2 hours.
One of the best caves I've ever seen. It is very long, spacious halls, there are underground lakes, stalactites, etc. One of the disadvantages is the extreme stuffiness on the train that takes visitors to the cave, due to the large number of groups if you come in high season.
A very unusual place where everything is fascinating. The guide is an excellent specialist and a master of his craft tells everything in detail. I recommend it if you have the opportunity to visit this cave.
We arrived in August 2024 to visit the Novo-Athos cave, the tour itself is all well and interesting, but there is nowhere to park the car. Local thugs are collecting money, indicating where to stand, there are no officially designated parking spots, visitors cannot get up on the side of the road, only locals can. We left the cave at about 16.30 these so-called parking guards were no longer there, the people did not come in the evening, there was no one to take money from, and the parking workers were gone. To get into the cave, you need to stand in a huge queue, here again there is a local fellow who has access to the ticket office and sells tickets 1.5 times more expensive to those who want to buy a ticket without waiting in line. The feeling is somehow visited in the 90s, lawlessness is flourishing.
It is a very fascinating place, both adults and children of all ages liked it. I highly recommend visiting this place, be sure to take a jacket, it's cool there. As a last resort, you can rent a plaid.
Parking is paid, the staff is sociable. Excursions must be booked in advance or you will have to wait a couple of hours for your time. There is a small market nearby where you can pass the time. I gave 5 stars only for the reason of the tour. It's very beautiful inside, although not everyone will see the bare walls of the cave, the story is interesting, I personally was not bored.
I liked the cave very much, it was extraordinary. Huge vaults, in the depths of the lake, several halls. But first you need to buy a ticket, we arrived in the morning, stood in line for about 30 minutes. The car was put in the parking lot for 200 rubles. A subway-like train is taking you to the cave. Ten trailers with 10 seats. Our train was 15 minutes late and then we were hurried the whole tour. But it didn't spoil the impression. I recommend you to visit!
I really liked the cave. An interesting tour, the beauty is extraordinary. It was interesting for both adults and children. I advise you to buy tickets in advance or calculate the time of the trip, as we were unable to purchase a ticket for the tour at the time we arrived. I had to wait 2 hours before the next tour.
The place is gorgeous! NO maintenance and NO service! We were there for the first time in 2011, then in 2017, so it was much better then. To purchase tickets, you need to stand in an hour-long queue. Apparently, ticket sales terminals are not installed specifically because of travel agencies that buy tickets without waiting in line, and some of the so-called travel agents (their own) they are immediately resold at the end of the queue for 1,500 rubles, with a ticket price of 700 rubles. The waiting hall is stuffy, there are sooooo many people and the hanging three fans absolutely cannot cope with cooling the open room. Turnstiles are installed at the entrance, which could be used to enter using electronic tickets purchased online, but they are disabled. In short, I will say this, if someone from the leadership of Abkhazia sees this review, please put things in order in this place to match the level of a tourist place. For example, we will definitely not take any of our friends there anymore, because the horror that must be overcome to get into the cave does not even compensate for the sheer scale and beauty of this cave. By the way, about toilets... Don't leave them here, it's better to go to the dining room opposite.
It's a great place. It is absolutely necessary to climb to the top. Gorgeous views, sunset. Delicious holy water from the well. It's a long climb, but it's worth it.
Take a thermos of tea with you and admire the scenery while climbing to the top., making stops
A large-scale excursion, the enchanting power of nature! The guide took us through the cave with interesting and informative facts and events. We had a good time! I liked everything!
Nicely. I liked it very much. I got an unforgettable experience. These are beautiful underground lakes, formed stalactites, and the most beautiful thing there is a stalagnite gazebo. It was cool
Love from the first time and forever.
The first time was in 2006.
The tour took place on wooden platforms.
Now iron bridges and platforms have been welded along the entire route. The tour is very informative. We noted for ourselves that previously there were only crustaceans and microorganisms in the caves. In 2024, we met woodlouse grass growing on the rocks. The microclimate of the cave is changing... It is mandatory for all guests of Abkhazia to visit. The prices are adequate.
It's just a one-time entertainment. It is better to plan in advance, as you can stand in line for tickets for several hours. Representatives of tour companies book and buy almost all tickets and offer to buy tickets more expensive for those who are already tired of standing in line. The ticket costs 700 rubles, and these smoke breaks are offered for 1000 and, in order to go to the cave as soon as possible, many agree. It's gloomy in the cave itself, so that oh, it really doesn't hurt. They take you to the place of the excursion in subway cars, but in hard and old ones. It's boring without a guide at all, but they won't let you in without one. One goes in front, the second closes. There is a crowd of 50 or 70 people walking along the trail. Swimming in the sea in a New Background was much more pleasant...
A unique place. Worth a visit👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
It's cool inside. +14. Take clothes.
The guide tells a very interesting story. Inside, you can take photos and shoot videos, but without 💥
Get a lot of impressions 👍🏻
The place is too popular, which imposes its disadvantages in the form of queues, waiting for excursions, parking problems, etc. As in the USSR everything was organized and built here, so everything remains. Well, electronic ticket sales can probably be organized in the modern world - this would eliminate the main problems. In general, it is better to come here in winter, when there are many times fewer people. There are no questions about the cave itself.
An amazing natural creature, 2 mill years old! Inspiring! It's cool in the cave, it's 14 degrees, keep warm. It is very beautiful, photos do not convey all the beauty.
A very beautiful atmospheric place! The scale is amazing, of course, with its greatness! The tour is pleasant and informative. I was pleased with the availability of blankets, as we did not take outerwear with us
The caves are very beautiful, the tour is interesting. For those who are driving, pay attention to the signs in the parking lot. There is a brick sign that is grazed by friendly locals (who inform traffic cops and take pictures of you if you get confused) The traffic police is also standing quietly somewhere and waiting for the next confused driver to break. The fine is immediately said to be 6000 and the rights are taken away. Be careful.
Perhaps the steepest caves that I have seen are grandiose, the scale is amazing, the only remaining Soviet legacy in Abkhazia that has not been destroyed. It is necessary to take warm clothes, deep, cool, very high humidity. We go down on a special train and get into a fairy tale of underground dwarves, huge caves, lighting and musical accompaniment, amazing. It is mandatory to visit
Super! You definitely need to come and see this miracle with your own eyes. The excursion to the sounds of national music is very tasty and impressive. It is important to listen to your guide and not make a mess. The halls are simply amazing!
Dear guests of Abkhazia, tourists, tourists!!!First of all, welcome to the land of the soul, where everyone is welcome, where you can get a lot of impressions, take unforgettable emotions with you, share what you have taken with your family and friends. Abkhazia is amazing, beautiful, and unique.I would like you to take away the warmest memories with you when you leave us, be happy to rest, and wish to return here more than once. It is important to be both attentive and careful ... I would like to draw your attention to a few points and give a small recommendation… Coming for the first time, get acquainted with the place, get advice from those who have been, know more, already have experience. There is a lot of information today thanks to the Internet, a lot of correct answers to questions. This is all so that there will be no outrage and disappointment…Caves are not only mysterious objects that attract attention, it is a difficult and special route, you need to be prepared for it. Before purchasing a ticket (it is non-refundable, because it passes control), you need to clearly understand whether you, your child, parents, are ready to stay in a confined space for 1 hour and 20 minutes, walk along wet tracks 1.5 km. where it is necessary to rise and fall, where it is dim and the air temperature is +13-14 degrees, where it is necessary to go keeping up with the group where there are no toilets, where it is damp and sometimes wet , slippery??? The tour time is limited, the train delivers and takes out according to schedule, you will be rushed, time flies quickly underground. It is not easy to satisfy all desires in one visit, you must decide what you need more, listen, watch or take pictures. The temperature difference with the surface is 20-25 degrees, keep warm, especially if you have children with you.The souvenirs that are offered to you in the cave itself are not ’steaming" - this is the best way to save the cave from those who, wishing to take away a piece of beauty as a souvenir, pluck and chip away. The method that is practiced all over the world, it has justified itself. The cave is in great demand in the summer, it is difficult to get there, but it is possible if you take into account several points.First of all (without waiting in line), travel agencies serve, they book time in advance, these are the main applications for which the caves work, the remaining places go on sale. Remember: travel agencies do not work on Monday, there are fewer of them on Friday, these days are unloading, so you can get in without problems, the ticket offices are open from 08:30…The cave impresses with its size and beautiful formations, a tour of its halls will not leave anyone indifferent. The amount spent on this tour is fully justified, the permission for photo shooting is 50 rubles. Also not beyond the limit . I would like to wish you all to see more beautiful, bright, bright, not to pay attention to the little things, not to find fault with the meager. We are all human beings, we all love to hear pleasant words, we are glad to see smiling faces, we appreciate a kind attitude. Let's be friends, show patience and respect for each other! Enjoy your stay! ❤️🙌🏻 Your guide of the New Athos cave is Agrba Laura 🙌
A very interesting, stress-free tour. The cave itself is worth seeing. It is possible to visit with children (up to 8 years old - free of charge). Before the start of the tour, he takes a mini-subway, returns it to the same place.
It's not that it's very cold downstairs (-14), but it's better to dress the children after the heat.
There is a separate tent at the entrance, vacuuming for 50 rubles per photo shoot. They were not fined, but there is also no queue for the opportunity to take pictures, unlike the main ticket office. Stand in it from 30 minutes to 1 hour.
An interesting, amazing place created by nature and adapted by people. It is definitely possible to enter the caves with strollers, because there are ramps, slides, ramps everywhere, there will be one obstacle for people in wheelchairs - several steps at the end of the route.
A great place, especially on a hot day, it's cool in the caves, you can take a blouse with you, the tour is 1.5 hours, buy tickets in advance if possible, because if you come and buy, you will have to wait for places in already formed groups, we had about 30 minutes waiting, possibly longer, the price of an adult ticket is 700 rubles.
A very impressive place! A great tour!!! The children are delighted! We adults are also impressed! Be sure to take warm clothes with you, in the cave +14
Novo Athos cave. The only disadvantage is buying a ticket at the ticket office. There is only one cash register. There is a very large flow of applicants. You can open two more cash desks, otherwise the queue stretches into a "long snake". People are standing under the sun. Or make some kind of canopy. The impression of the tour is the best. Thanks a lot to the tour guide. 1.5 km has been covered, but at the same time it passed in one breath and you just don't notice the distance thanks to the story and the beauty of the cave.
I really enjoyed the tour. The cave is impressive in scale. It is said that the impressions of childhood differ greatly from the perception of an adult. I really wanted to make sure of this. But the delight experienced in childhood is no different from my current delight!
There are always very long queues, we were advised to come in the morning before 9.00 am. There were already a lot of people. The cave opens at 9:00 a.m. The ticket office is 8:30 a.m. They work every day.
We walked in 20 minutes.
They are launched in groups of 120 people. There are so many people in the subway. The cave is cool and humid at 14 degrees. The tour lasts 1.5 hours. A very interesting, beautiful tour. Don't be afraid of the queue. To visit such a legendary place. You can also stand in line
One of the new wonders of the world! It's an amazing place.! During the visit, you feel like all the heroes of adventure books at once. The guide explained the difference between stalactites, stalagmites and stalagnates in an accessible way.
I recommend you to visit🤩 everything starts with the train that takes you to the cave, then a fascinating tour of the cave
takes your breath away inside, the scale is amazing
, you want to look
at everything the guide tells the story and facts in an interesting way
It's worth getting dressed warmly
A big queue
Payment in cash only
If you want to know all the greatness of nature and the underworld, come here!!! Glory to the Soviet archaeologists who discovered for us this truly wonderful and unique miracle of Mother Earth! I have probably never seen such magnificent majestic caves anywhere: underground lakes, stalactites, stalagmites, a perfectly equipped hiking route and excellent guides. Special thanks to the Moscow metro, which paved the railway path in the tunnel to the caves. The kids are just thrilled!!! I recommend that all tourists definitely visit there: Whoever has not been to the New Athos caves has not been to Abkhazia!!!
Perhaps the most vivid impression of a trip to Abkhazia, most of the sights are located in new Athos: the monastery, the cell of the Apostle Kananit, the Fortress and caves. All of them are recommended to visit, this is a very intensive tour in one day, so that it is not tedious, it is better to lay two days: the first cell and monastery, the second caves and fortress. Keep in mind that visiting the caves is only in a group and strictly on schedule (in my opinion every hour), in autumn and the low season tickets for the next session ended, I had to buy the next one, and pass the waiting time in a cafe. I have never spared either time or money - the impressions are indescribable!
