I was in the cave itself a long time ago. I will not write about her. I am writing about the organization of ticket sales. We arrived at 3. Tickets were sold at 6. There was a huge queue. Stuffy. At the same time, everything closes at 7. You can't buy tickets for another day for a certain time, and you can't do it online either. Just for today. We were with a child. Stand in line for at least an hour and it is not known if there will be any tickets left. And if it stays, then somewhere you need to walk 3.5 hours before your time. Everything is very poorly organized. They turned around and drove away.
It is amazing in its size. The cave is very well maintained, the route is well equipped, clean. The guide tells everything in detail. I would like to mention the inconvenient entrance and parking problems. It seems there is a sign "parking", but they run up from a nearby cafe and tell them that this is their private territory and demand money. They don't give you checks, they don't show you any documents. But this is a systemic problem of Abkhazia as a whole.
Novo-Athos Cave is a place that must be seen with your own eyes. We visited 6 halls out of 9 as part of a group of 90 people, went down in small wagons like in the subway, and then there was a 1.5-hour tour with a guide. An amazing place, incredible beauty😍 Be sure to visit if you are in Abkhazia!
The tour is wonderful! Especially if you're lucky with a guide. The caves are very interesting. Long queues in front of the cash register spoil the first impression. There are no toilets. Kids have to endure.
I knew it was cool there. But I had no idea what was so cool. The place is interesting, beautiful, the guide is smart. Dress warmly, it's cold out there! I paid 50rubles for the filming, but no one checked my ticket. The photos and videos turned out great, otherwise someone wrote in the reviews that nothing was visible on the camera. Everything is great on my camera
We were in the first
It is fascinating in its scale
The route is interesting, the guides give you the opportunity to enjoy the beauty on your own and listen to their stories.
The only thing is that there is a queue at the entrance, taking into account organized groups that buy tickets for a certain time
Minus: huge queues, stuffy waiting room, we got a stained plaid
Plus: A MUST-visit! The cave is the 3rd largest in the world. We were delighted with what we saw!
The tour is for an hour and a half, they let you in at the time appointed on the ticket. A train takes you to the cave (10 minutes). Next, three guides will conduct a guided tour.
The temperature in the cave is 14 degrees.
Plaid rental is 100 rubles, photo shooting permission is 50 rubles (no one checked, but it seems like a fine).
We never regretted that we went)
The cave is gorgeous, the route is interesting, but ...
this year it was extremely uncomfortable, this is the first time in my memory. A large number of people were sent on the tour. The subway cars are packed. The crowd of people stretches along the route, which lengthens the time.
Previously, the groups were smaller
One of the places of Abkhazia that is worth visiting, the height of the vault is about 80 m, impresses with its volume and fascinates with natural deposits of stalactites and stalagmites. Also, the way to the cave lies through the subway, which creates an unusual mood.
It's like traveling to another planet. If you can't go anywhere else, then you definitely need to go there. Everything is unusual: the train, the halls of the cave, the bridges, the music, the professional guides. I've only seen this in photographs, and photos and videos don't convey what you really see. A must-visit!
The place is mandatory to visit. The scale is amazing. And the tour is interesting. You can't take beautiful photos because it's dark, but it's definitely worth seeing with your own eyes. And as a nice bonus, it's very cool in it.
Unfortunately, tickets can only be purchased upon arrival and cannot be purchased in advance.
A very cool place! I recommend it! The subway inside the cave is cool! It was in July 2024! I came at 11:00! I stood in line for 40 minutes! I went to the session at 11.40! I recommend taking a windbreaker or hoodie with you! The temperature is +14 inside the cave!
It is very beautiful, the impressive underground landscapes are amazing, it seemed to me once a little, the tour is 1.5 hours and two halls are opened exclusively...
The second largest in the world, 2 million years old. There are 9 halls, 6 of which are open to the public. An interesting place.
The opening hours in the summer are from 10.00, it is better to arrive an hour before this time to purchase tickets. There will be long queues later. The visit is possible only as part of a group (40 people), you will not be able to enter without an excursion. The temperature in the cave is 15 degrees, grab some sweaters. An additional ticket is needed for photo and video shooting, it is sold at a separate ticket office (50 rubles).
The subway, the shortest branch in the world, delivers to and from the cave.
The best thing I liked about Abkhazia. Be sure to go and take a look. Many people write about waiting in line. It is better to arrive early in the morning. We arrived at 9:30, quietly bought tickets for 10 o'clock. Only cash is accepted at the cash desk, but there are three ATMs in the premises. You can withdraw from the card
The cave is 2 million years old. Which is amazing in itself. The lake has an unusual color, unusual bizarre crystals of different types and colors. I recommend you to visit.
An excellent tour, both adults and children will like it. The guides are professionals, the design is excellent, plus a subway ride - the price is relatively small.
Very beautiful. There are large cave halls, in some of them blue water glitters at a depth, a little further there are stone stalactites, stalagmites and stalagnates. The natural stone figures are illuminated, which creates a magical atmosphere.
There is a bridge running through the entire cave, so you don't have to jump on the rocks (and this is not allowed). It is cool in the cave: +14 degrees all year round. The tour takes about half an hour and begins after descending in a small trailer to a depth of about 150 meters from the entrance.
The first time I was with the cave, it was very interesting. The guide tells me everything is interesting. In general, I can write a lot, but it's better to visit and see this beauty for yourself.
The gorgeous cave is very beautiful , the second largest in the world in terms of volume and grandeur . A very competent tour and when Bach 's music started playing, the atmosphere was just " cool " There were no queues at all
Getting into the caves on your own is already a victory! The queue is huge, the guides are streaming, out of turn. "I took a ticket and went in " not about the caves, I took a ticket at 13.00 at 17.40, maybe, but you can stand in line and find out that there are no tickets for today.
We were lucky, the queue was defended and there were no tickets, but suddenly the cashier yelled that there were two tickets for now, 700 rubles. from a person and we got there.
At first we rode on the subway train, packed, then a 1.5-hour walking tour of the cave with a guide. Interesting, impressive, worth a look!
The cave is wonderful, the guide is wonderful, a very interesting performance, informative.
The organization of ticket sales and the entire nearby infrastructure are terrible. Well, isn't it possible to make three working cash desks instead of one, you can't put an air conditioner in the hallway, organize a normal parking lot? There was an impression that after the cave was opened to the public (in 1975), no innovations occurred.
Well done, a good cave, put on stream! Let's go in the morning so that we don't fly over with tickets! from the bottom to the mountain taxi 200-300r (it's bad that tickets are only at the box office, groups are suitable and they are given tickets, and ordinary people without a group, what will they get ...), it's cold + 14 in the cave itself, it's not necessary to take things with you, blankets are given at the entrance at the turnstile for 150r, or for rent -There are jackets in the shop upstairs
From the cave itself, you can go down to the bottom of 150 meters , there is a tunnel nearby, go directly to the station and a beautiful lake with a waterfall
A beautiful and very large cave, a must-visit! The guides tell very interesting stories, make stops, the route is long and interesting. It was interesting for a 6-year-old child
The caves themselves are, of course, magnificent. The organization sometimes limps, waiting a long time for its time to enter. The guide turns on the backlight only when he tells you about all the values and volumes from the encyclopedia. The music is a little off-topic ... In general, it is much better to present this miracle of nature to visitors.
There is a large queue at the ticket office outside the street, which flows into one at the top, so I advise you not to queue at the bottom near the road, but to climb the steps and take a queue there a little higher. Save a lot of time. A train takes people directly to the cave according to the time according to the tickets purchased at the ticket office. I will not say that this cave is better than the Kungur ice cave. Maybe only the passages are more monumentally equipped. The tour lasts about 1 hour and 20 minutes. and the guide tells you quite interestingly, gives you time to take pictures and consider everything.
Hello. The family visited the Novo-Athos cave in August 2023. We came to Abkhazia one day to visit the cave and Lake Ritsa. Everyone liked it very much. The impressions are amazing. A real underground kingdom. An excellent guide - we learned a lot from the history of the cave's discovery up to the present time. Try to arrive early, as there are a lot of people who want to visit the caves during the season. And there are very few parking spaces near the entrance. We were in our car, left Imereti at 6.00, taking into account the passage of the border in New Athos, we were around 9.00. We managed to buy tickets for 9.40. There were still a few people. After leaving at about 11:00, there was a queue of about 50-60 people at the checkout. Unfortunately, due to the lack of precipitation, the cave lakes were almost shallow, but otherwise the cave views made an enthusiastic impression. If you have the opportunity to visit this place, do not miss it.
A natural something! The landscape is like in the best movies about space and other planets! A beautiful, mysterious and peaceful place. I recommend you to visit without fail!
A grandiose place. Very impressive. Intrusive marketing is a bit annoying, but the natural creation itself is impeccable. It's cool inside, take a windbreaker
We've been trying to buy tickets for a very long time. Tickets are sold for large tour groups. For vacationers on their own, tickets are sold on a residual basis. You need to take a sweater with you. In the cave +19. The guide is in a hurry-I didn't like it. The cave itself is impressive in its gigantic size. Cool "Martian" backgrounds for photos and videos. The ticket for the photo shoot was bought for cheap, but no one checked them. If your camera does not shoot well in the dark, you will not be able to do any photo shoots here. It is well equipped for moving excursions (railings, observation decks). Suitable for small children and the elderly.
I advise everyone to visit a very cool and charged place. And go to the cave and get to the waterfall and learn a lot of interesting things about Abkhazia and the Abkhazian people and its history.
This cave is an amazing place that is definitely worth seeing. We were there with my wife and child, and she made a lasting impression on all of us. I won't tell you much, I just strongly recommend that you visit this attraction in person.
One of the most visited caves in the world) but it is difficult to get there, because only by appointment. And they found out the time only upon arrival, they don't write it anywhere on the websites. The last cave was quite interesting. The height of the caves and good acoustics are amazing. Admission is 700 rubles, duration is 1 hour. I took off my clothes because I wanted to look at everything longer, but we were constantly being pushed. And the music was annoying all the way, I wanted to listen to silence, but alas, they did not give it (
It's an amazing place by the look of it. But there is a disadvantage, firstly, to stand in line for tickets, and secondly, when the first ones pass, the rest need to go faster because while the rear ones reach, the first ones are already leaving.
I highly recommend it. The tracks and the train that carries have been updated. It is better to arrive at 9.00. The ticket offices open and you will pass through. From there, you can walk through the tunnel to get to the waterfall. It will be a great walk
The caves themselves are very cool, but you will definitely remember getting into them with a queue for tickets)
And of course, we recommend that the guides talk about the caves more lively and interesting. The information comes out very languidly and tediously
It is a very interesting place, we had an interesting tour. Take your sweaters with you, it's very fresh.
We took blankets for the children, each blanket is 100 rubles.
We really liked it
An impressive place, an interesting underground subway. A good guide got caught and told us about the cave in an interesting way. I would like to get to the concerts that are held there.
a top place, definitely worth the money. It is incredibly atmospheric inside, starting from a subway ride and ending with majestic halls, excellent guides and well-chosen music. Be sure to go there. It's worth it.
I love this place. I was here with my husband for the first time two years ago and they impressed me so much that I had a desire to definitely show them to my daughter. And now, two years later, I'm here again. Yes, when you are in the cave for the second time, you no longer feel the scale, but still, it is a very colorful place and it is worth visiting here at least once in your life!
It would be better to have the opportunity to walk quickly without an excursion. The tour itself is interesting, but it turned out to be very long. We have to wait for everyone all the time, and if there are power outages on the day, then it's better not to come, we were 2.5 -3h instead of 1h 20 min. It's very cold, I don't know how the children stood it. The generators are weak, they don't save you for long.
× Tickets are quickly disassembled, as a rule, the waiting time takes 1.5 hours
× Take warm clothes with you for about 10-15 minutes. There is a plaid rental, but I advise you to prepare
× Be prepared for the fact that there are a lot of people, they gather a full group, about 40-50 people.
× Photo payment is at your discretion. Personally, I regretted it - everything was photographed without restrictions, the payment was not checked.
× On-site toilet is paid, 10p
The big cave, I liked the bridge the most, the minus for me personally is a lot of people, the guide broadcasts into the microphone, there is not the coziness that happens in small caves. It's worth a look, at least in order to compare, and feel like a little man
A big beautiful cave, definitely worth a visit.
As for me, it's still worth going with an excursion, since you can stand for hours for tickets and go early in the morning right from the opening. In the cave you can buy souvenirs in the form of ancient debugs, but for some reason you can't take pictures of them, so I doubt it in terms of legality, but who stops it)
One of the wonderful natural gifts of Abkhazia has become the New Athos Cave, which is a worthy competitor to many underground palaces with world-famous names. A must-visit!
We were on an excursion with my husband in August 2024. It's a wonderful place, the guide tells you everything in detail. I recommend it! Don't forget to bring warm clothes to the cave!
An atmospheric and impressive place.
In the beginning it was terribly scary, and then terribly beautiful!
The temperature inside the cave is acceptable, it was comfortable in a shirt and shorts.
I advise you to visit!
A well-equipped cave, I really liked everything. It was not a pity to give money for such an excursion. However, the guide, apparently, was already tired of telling the same thing, there was no involvement in the voice. In general, everything was great!
