It is an ideal place for winter entertainment and relaxation on the high slopes. Located in the picturesque mountains, the resort offers excellent skiing conditions for both beginners and experienced skiers and snowboarders.

Pros: beautiful nature, decent preparation of the slopes. The queue is very well organized, even at the peak of the new year, there is not a very large queue. In Medeo, they waited 35 minutes in line for the descent. It's not much.
Minuses:
1. The cash registers work strangely - you can't buy a skipass for a few days.
2. It is impossible to rent a storage room for several days, so I had to drive from the hotel to Almaaty with equipment every day
3. Annoying behavior of pedestrians in the queue on the lift: almost everyone! the father pushes his children forward between the skis, and then pushes the skiers himself with the words that he has a child there. Moreover, this is not an isolated example, but is of a massive nature. It looks like a strange and unpleasant local feature
4. The steep skipass transmission control system fails: the child has a skipass in his inner pocket, but it was blocked allegedly for transferring it to another. Apparently, either it works from a distance and the passage of another person in the queue is fixed, or clones of cards are used. You can unlock it only in the information center
5. The cards are demagnetized for no apparent reason, being always in the sleeve. As a result, they are forced to buy the card again. It's a small thing, but it's unpleasant.
6. There are a lot of stones on the slope - in 3 days of skiing, the skis are specifically broken even despite careful skiing

Disgusting service! 0 customer orientation! I left the sticks near the lift, our people are not back, there are strangers. They asked me to look at the cameras to see who took it, maybe they made a mistake. The administration refused, forced to call the police.
They gave 25,000 for season tickets and equipment to ride until 14-00. As a result, we were waiting for the police! Disgusting service! Shame on you!
Your video surveillance does not allow you to identify the person.
Why don't you talk about this and warn customers who have made such a request.
Why do you force me to call the police, waste three hours of paid time, then show that you can't show anything?
Your cameras show only what a person is wearing and the direction of his movement. THAT's IT. This information is valuable and relevant only in the first hours while a person is at the resort.
If you wait for the police and watch your video archives, this further aggravates the situation and does not allow you to find a person in a timely manner.

We visited Shymkent in October 2024, when we arrived it was cloudy below, took the cable car up while we were in the cafe - it started snowing in flakes!
The views are very beautiful, the mountains are majestic!

In my opinion, Shymkent is a worthy alpine skier. A short drive from the city center. It's easy to call a taxi. And there are buses. There are coffee shops. Warm cabins of the funicular. Good slopes. Of course there are a lot of people, but there is no sense of pandemonium. And of course, a beautiful landscape.

A great place for outdoor activities. Good trails for skiing or snowboarding for both beginners and pros. We rented skis on the Shymkent subway with a silver status, skis and boots are normal. By the way, it is better to pay for skiing with a Ski pass from the Shymkent app on your phone, the price is 20% cheaper. There are cafes at the very top of 3200 meters. On a simple day, there are not many people, on Saturday and Sunday, of course, you will have to stand in line. Especially if you get ready to go home by closing time, it will be just a kick-ass. Therefore, it is better to leave a little earlier.
We lived in the Namaste hotel and liked it for its fabulousness and mystery. We had lunch and dinner at the hotel, a good breakfast was included. We got to Shymkent by eco taxi for 2000 tenge, it takes five minutes to drive from the hotel. The rest was great, I want to come back again.

Very beautiful area, modern ski lifts. There are no queues, many people are stupid and do not get on the lift just like that. You can almost always sit down without waiting in line.
There are few trails, local skiing culture, too, prices in the eateries are extremely high and without alternatives, the rules of visiting are controversial: if you stayed too long after skiing in a cafe, going down the mountain on a lift will cost like a day at the resort, krh for 3, I do not recommend if you expect a lot from this place.

Amazing view. Stunning mountains.
The first one came to the rental, apparently there were no problems with queues. I was among the first to arrive on the slope and found corduroy.
I used the services of an instructor, explained everything clearly and helped with the first steps in alpine skiing.
There 's nothing to do there on weekends . Lots of people, queues everywhere! I came only on weekdays in the morning.
I will definitely come there again!!!

Good trails and a comfortable cable car. Reasonable prices. You can rent outerwear, it's very convenient. The condition of the equipment at the rental is acceptable. Of the cons. This is the only ski resort of this size that does not have a guide with categories of trails at all. It makes you worry for the first time. It's just a disgusting rental organization. Even when there are few people, the registration of the lease takes a very long time. I arrived at Shimbulak on a weekday at 10-30, took the skis only at 14-40 (I was in line all the time), at 17-00 it is already necessary to take them, although the lift works until 18-00. It is not possible to book a rental, which makes the visit a lottery. To sum up, it is quite comfortable with your equipment both on weekdays and on weekends, if you want to use the rental then only on weekdays and preferably by the opening, otherwise you will stand in line in a stuffy room for hours.

Lots of positive impressions. Be sure to watch the temperature at the top of the Medeu so as not to freeze. The differences are large. The funicular quickly delivers to the top points. There are two transplants. The views are gorgeous. Just have time to take pictures. There are a lot of tourists . There are observation decks at the first transfer station, many restaurants and cafes. There are also toilets. On the second transfer there is a restaurant and a cafe with an observation deck. There was no restaurant at the very top (it burned down and was being restored). Unfortunately, there was no cafe either. Sadly. Pitot wanted to, but there was nothing to buy. There are many photo zones. We enjoyed walking on all the transfers. The impressions are only positive. Although they are frozen). Be sure to visit this place

It was the first time in Kazakhstan, and I managed to visit Shymkent.
A fairly modern resort, long descent, good snow.
Prices relative to Russian resorts are very reasonable. If the flight was also inexpensive, then it would be possible to fly every year.
However, Almaty airport is a return to 1970, I haven't seen this for a long time.
There are 3 ways to get to the resort:
1. By electric taxi for 3000 tenge
2. On the lift
3. On foot
The lift to the top consists of two parts, the glacier is visible from above and you can move down to the other side of the mountain.
The restaurants and cafes are very good, the prices are reasonable, the food quality is good.
On some days there is night skiing, the track is illuminated by floodlight towers.
The sun on the top is evil, you can burn out in a couple of hours, you definitely need to protect yourself.
I recommend the resort to all snow lovers, but take your own equipment, the rental is not very good.

The conflict occurred due to the fact that foreigners came out and filmed and photographed against the background of the mountains, they decided to sing a song for the video, this apparently offended the employee, he came out and was not just rude, but also yelled at me and the guests, shouted that you can not stand here, although there is a warning sign that on it is impossible to stand on the territory, the guests decided to take pictures there because before that people also passed and took photos and videos and everything was fine. At the request of the employee not to be rude and not to shout and be more polite, this employee immediately switched to YOU, although I asked to talk in a respectful manner since I initially addressed only YOU, he replied to this request with the words "say thank you that I'm talking to you at all", then he threatened me that he would take pictures of us and he will make sure that we will never be allowed into the territory of Shymkent again, which I was surprised at, because there was no aggression and no respect on our part. For no reason, shouting and being rude and imagining himself to be such a great man was very unattractive and disrespectful. The staff who work below this point are very polite and immediately explained what and how, mostly there were only women, I'm talking about those places where you get on the cable car.
Also, the employee at the endpoint was wearing airpods headphones all the time during our stay.

There are a lot of people at the resort, 2 queues accumulate on 1 lift, the cable car cannot cope with the flow. The culture of skiing or snowboarding in Kazakhstan is deplorable. Sometimes people who don't know how to ride pile up on top and just sit blocking the track. And so, in principle, everything is well done. Very good cafes and restaurants, places to relax.
