I visited both Grodno and the old castle for the first time. The feeling is simply unreal. I will definitely come back here again. I really liked the interactive screens with artifacts, convenient search and description. The videos that the guides show inside are also good, fascinating and informative.
The observation deck is simply an unrealistic place: despite the strong wind at the time of the visit, it was possible to fit the whole of Grodno in one glance: I looked to the right and saw churches, to the right I saw churches and other interesting and beautiful things.
The panorama is simply breathtaking.
Since it's all located on a mountain, it feels like you, as the owner of the castle, are looking at everything from a height)
The Old Castle was remembered for its good guide and rich exposition. An interesting story.
Time passed unnoticed.
You should definitely visit Grodno.
For pensioners in Russia, they also make a discount upon presentation of a pension certificate. Not greedy. Entrance is 12p50 kopecks, upon presentation 10 rubles.
The last Wednesday of every month is generally free.
The castle is very beautiful, the exposition is wonderful, the interiors are authentic and the view from the balcony is magical. When the restoration is completed, everything will be fine. But! The logistics of entering and exiting the castle grounds are terrifying:(this spoils the whole impression, and I saw the visitors turn around and leave.
I'm pleasantly surprised. I was here when there were ruins. Now everything has been restored and the expositions are perfectly selected. In some halls, there is a sense of presence in the heyday of the castle. There are a lot of tourists on weekends. There is no moderation of the number of users.
A wonderful museum. There are many interesting things about the history of Grodno and Belarus, there are individual visits and excursions, there are interactive materials. Great view from the observation deck, climb in clear weather, you won't regret it.
A very interesting and modern museum, a lot of interactive content and, in general, a large number of rooms that can be visited + a viewing platform
There are also a number of locations where you can take great photos.
We visited here for the holiday for free
The old castle is a masterpiece of the history of native Belarus.
All expositions have been verified, accessibility to inspection, polite, kind and sincere staff. Bravo to the restorers! Thank you all so much for the pleasure. I'll be back again.
A magnificent monument of ancient architecture. Everything is convenient for visitors, You can go up to the observation deck. The staff of the castle museum helps with indoor navigation, thank them for their attention.
Thank you to the people who love history and know how to do good in this world! Thank you to the masters for helping to reveal this Miracle to the light!
I really liked the Old Castle. I advise you to visit of course!
Someone is unhappy, talking about a new model...
people! Stop grumbling and have fun visiting new places and be grateful to those people who create beauty for us!
Here we will touch the history, try to see it, present it with the help of museum expositions and with the help of excellent brief information on interactive stands (by the way, in 5 languages). Here we will train our muscles, trying to climb higher and higher, and finally get to the very top, to the roof, to the sky! And this is a reward for our hard journey! And what a!
Beauty! Rise up! Flying over the world of hustle and bustle!
It's so cool! I advise everyone to see and enjoy it!
The interiors are beautiful, the architecture is beautiful, the museum staff is wonderful, the impressions, emotions and desire to come again are wonderful, to tell others about the Miracle created by the hands of people who care about history! Thank you from the grateful visitors of the beautiful castle. Top score!
I really liked the beautiful place, there is a good exposition inside, the castle continues to be restored, but even now there is something to see. What is encouraging is the enthusiasm of the scientific team involved in restoring history. The guide Andrey Friedrichovich, who is also the scientific director of the museum, told a lot of interesting things.
I recommend definitely visiting the observation deck on the roof, the view is epic. I liked the Alabaster hall, the washroom, the secretary's room, where there is a beautiful tiled stove, a wolf and a bear skin. After visiting the castle, there is a visual representation of the life of medieval kings.
The castle is interesting, on a high hill above the Neman River. The views are picturesque. It's also interesting inside, the sauna room is unusual. Nice viewing platform at the top. I recommend you to visit - the aesthetic pleasure of contemplating this beauty is guaranteed!!!
It looks decent, but not everything has been restored yet, the castle itself looks good, by the way, you can conduct wedding photography there, it looks very cool and the castle's tones are pleasing to the eye, the parking is really not big, and I'm behind the fire department, there's no point in going to the new castle after the old one.
The castle is beautiful, but not impressive. We enjoyed watching the exhibitions, strolled through the galleries and halls.
I really liked the restored ovens, I was delighted with their variety and shapes. The bathing place was very impressive - I have not seen this anywhere else. The restored interiors are very beautiful.
The halls with the exhibition of weapons interested men, I enjoyed fine art and icon painting with pleasure.
Each
The surrounding area is clean, partially under construction.
There's a lot to see, and it's generally new-made, so it won't be possible to immerse yourself in the old era. There aren't many exhibits, but the halls are very beautiful, with excellent interactive panels.Large square, beautiful observation deck, courteous staff.Overall, a great place for a family trip.
The castle is well restored, everything inside is newly restored, the castle itself is small, there is an observation deck upstairs with a good view, there are many exhibits inside, there is a souvenir shop
a very authentic place! The expositions are designed competently, neatly and with soul. the entrance ticket is 10p, there are benefits. inside there is a cloakroom and storage rooms. walking through corridors with forks, staircases and small rooms, you strongly feel the spirit of the place! Fascinating! the castle is really impressive, I highly recommend you to visit!
It's a very atmospheric place, I've visited many castles and palaces, but the room with a sauna is the coolest here! I also liked the animation in different halls, it was interesting for both adults and a child of 5 years old.
A beautiful castle in the center of Grodno with a view of the Neman River, near the new castle and many other attractions that are worth visiting with a walk through the manicured park with cherry blossoms
The castle is very interesting from the outside, and so is the courtyard area. But the rooms in the castle are sad. There are only 2-3 fully equipped, with beautiful ceilings. Otherwise, the castle looks more like a museum of local lore. But what's great about it is the observation deck over the city. In any case, if you are in Grodno, I recommend going here to add even more atmosphere to the already magnificent city.
A very beautiful place, a beautiful castle. It has been restored with high quality, it is clear that the work has been carried out grandiose. At the ticket counter, the woman selling the tickets, realizing that we were from Russia, deliberately, accentuated, in the Belarusian language, indicated the beginning of the inspection. Well, we don't mind. There are enough objects from the time of Stefan Batory on the museum's exposition, although the mannequins in antique clothes are taken from boutiques. There is a great view on the observation deck. The paintings in the souvenir shop are not souvenirs, but more for an exhibition of modern art, but it is interesting to see. Of course, this is a must-visit place in Grodno.
P.S. Belarus has a wonderful feature, everything is done efficiently and meticulously, everything is clean and tidy. And so in the castle, in my opinion, they overdid the sterile cleanliness, in the passages, on the stairs like in a hospital, and it would be possible to artificially age, put a patina on the walls.
For lovers of antiquity and history, for children and their parents - in general, a cool place. My favorite cashier at the entrance, who speaks Belarusian with everyone, is very colorful and memorable at once (Easter egg from a girl with a Kazan purse) . It's a little thing at the entrance. Good restoration. I advise you to take a tour, because you will learn a lot of information about what and why is decorated in the castle, what was built / destroyed and when, from the guide.
If you are walking with young children, keep in mind that the passages of the stairs are quite narrow, spiral-shaped and can scare them (we met a small visitor on the way down, who was very afraid of this).
And one more thing: start the inspection immediately from the observation deck and go down. I have been to the castle for the 2nd time and this hint from the city guide saved me strength during the day.
A very beautiful place with a rich history. It's especially fascinating at 12:00 p.m., when you're standing on the tower opposite the town hall, where a bugler is playing. There are friendly caretakers in each hall who tell interesting stories.
A magnificent castle on the banks of the Neman River, on an ancient foundation, a lot has been recreated, but with great love for the native land, very good interactive information support in each hall.
Cool castle, not everything has been restored yet, but there is something to see. The museum's caretakers are very pleasant, and they themselves suggest turning on historical cartoons on the projector. I have a positive impression of the visit.
The place itself is very historical. Vytautas and Stefan Batory are figures! Being in Grodno and not being here is nonsense. The tour of the castle is so-so, but the atmosphere is fire!!! The view from the observation deck is wonderful!
What can I say, I came to Grodno as a tourist - I must come here!
Very beautiful! You should definitely visit. The castle has an interesting history, a panoramic roof, and a beautiful view of Grodno. The dining room is a real art
The oldest landmark of the city of Grodno. From this high hill above the Neman, the city itself began many centuries ago. Therefore, any tourist coming to Grodno is simply obliged to visit the Old Castle. And it makes sense for permanent residents of the city to look here again on a free day to refresh their impressions - fortunately, once a month there is a day of free access. History lovers will be glad to get acquainted with the exposition of the museum located inside the Old Castle, covering the period from the Paleolithic era to the brilliant Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. Well, for those who are far from historical research, it will certainly be interesting to look at the interiors in which the rulers of one of the largest and strongest states of medieval Europe lived, to see the royal bathhouse and much more from the life of that era. And all of them, of course, will get great pleasure from the view from the observation deck of the Castle - the ancient and beautiful city of Grodno, the bystry Neman, the forested hills and the Kalozhsky Church, which has survived many centuries - the oldest stone Orthodox Church in Belarus. So if fate brings you to Grodno - regardless of the time of year, be sure to take the time and visit the Old Castle!
I have a rule: on excursions and vacations, go only to new places (the world is huge, I want to see as much as possible) and without prior preparation along the route, the history of interesting places (get impressions from scratch).
This September, I finally went to Belarus. What I knew about it: a friendly country, friendly people, beautiful and spacious Minsk, wonderful sanatoriums. Everything.
I chose a route through the western part of the country: Grodno, Belovezhskaya Pushcha, Brest. And I couldn't believe that in Grodno such a century-old story would open up in front of me, when both the second and third visits would not be enough to feel it in the buildings, streets, where the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, and the Soviet Union left indelible traces.
And Belovezhskaya Pushcha! Not just a big forest with bison (as I imagined), but endless kilometers of forest wealth and a wide variety of animals.
And here is Brest. I am ashamed to admit, but I did not know that there is the city of Brest, beautiful and with its most interesting history, and the Brest fortress, which everyone knows about as a symbol of the courage of the Soviet people.
And that's what not only amazed me, but delighted me - these are hundreds of kilometers of cleaned, well-groomed fields, completely ready for the new season.
It has been decided, I am temporarily violating my rule and in the summer I will go to Belarus again on the same route, but already well prepared.
The castle is gorgeous, but the security person is not!
I came to Grodno from Brest for my sister's wedding, and the next day we went for a walk around the city. It was 08/03/2024.
At the entrance, my father and I were mugged by a security guard!
Like, "don't stand in two lanes, or people will come out!" My father replied, "If there are any, we will leave." The young guard, who believes that if he is a guard, then everything is possible for him, continued the argument, "I said, don't stand here!" etc.
And then he left like he was a hero! He cheated on the eldest, who was old enough to be his father!
THE MOOD was debatable!
Is it really impossible to do humanly and without rudeness?!
I hope that guard doesn't work there anymore!
Because of my upbringing, I didn't speak out in front of my father, and if I were alone, I would respond with rudeness to rudeness!
ADMINISTRATION, Is it really impossible to explain to the younger generation how to communicate with people?!
If your guard does not know how to control himself, then why should he choose a job where he needs to communicate with people!
It's a beautiful place
I was particularly impressed by the stained glass windows, ceilings in the sauna, the alabaster hall and the observation deck.
All halls are clean, well-maintained, bathrooms are available on all floors.
I really liked the castle. The content is interesting, A good observation deck. Entrance is 10 rubles. The staff is polite and helpful, they will tell you everything. All questions will be answered
The castle is incomparable with its atmosphere. The view of the river and the city is gorgeous. Every stone breathes history. A wonderful place to plunge into the Middle Ages. I recommend it for family viewing.
An amazing place of power, I'm thrilled with the energy on the shaking castle, the Meat is very tasty in a princely style, straight A-plus, I recommend it to those who are inspired by history, architecture!
Special respect to Nikita, the tour guide, who conducted an interesting tour of our Native Land for us. I answered all the questions. The information came from an employee without "water" and well...And uh.! The other side of the coin that sticks out is the earnings of employees. I think many people will guess how this can be understood without direct and unnecessary questions. People work on enthusiasm. I'll bet you 10!
Отличные впечатления, с учётом того, что восстановили почти все, сделано и делается очень много и хорошо. Прекрасные залы, интересные экскурсии. Обязательно нужно побывать
A wonderful castle! Large, bright, many different rooms, rich interiors. The ticket price is reasonable, you can use it to get around everything and go to the observation deck with a beautiful view of the Neman River.
I've been there several times since perestroika, it's very beautiful and there's a lot to see. Some halls are simply mesmerizing. I want to note the beautiful view from the observation deck at the top of the castle.
A wonderful place, a must-visit. I will not retell the story- the kings loved this place, and you will like it too. The restored castle has a good museum, chain mail, sabers, pieces of decor found during research, there is something to see. From the walls of the castle, the views of the Neman river are excellent. Parts of the interior were recreated, local builders did a good job. I enjoyed admiring the castle from afar - I highly recommend the angles from the bridge and from the embankment. Near Kolozhska church, don't miss it either. There is a toilet, there were no problems with parking on weekends in the summer. The city center with a cafe is literally nearby. Have a nice visit!
If you come to Grodno, the Old Castle is a must-visit. However, so is the new one. The place is very beautiful. The majestic castle hill above the Neman, near Kolozhsky Park, you can walk around the castle and in the park. Both day and night, beautiful views of the city and the river open from the castle hill. There are options to purchase a walking tour and learn a lot of new and interesting things. It's definitely worth it.
I strongly recommend visiting!
If you are in Grodno, be sure to visit the Old Castle, which is built on a hill. The exposition itself inside the castle is small, but quite interesting. Go up to the observation deck, which offers a magnificent view of the Neman, walk over the bridge, through the ravine. Do not miss the moment to go down to the river and walk along the embankment. The views of the castle and its surroundings will not leave you indifferent. If you have a little more time than I do, take a walk around the territory of the New Castle, which is located nearby.
The main attraction of Grodno.
I liked everything. There is an exhibition on each floor. There are many interactive screens. There are toilets and a souvenir shop. A very cute dog Kuzya met me at the entrance.
I really hope that the territory behind the fence will be put in order soon.
After visiting Grodno, you should also visit the castles: old and new. They stand on a mountain, the place for the photo is very beautiful. Near the drama theater, the old bridge, a park with a temple, a walking street.
The area above is small, but the view of the Neman River and the city is quite good. The castle is small and interesting, although new, for those who are sincerely interested in history. It's not boring, it's concise, and you get a good idea of the history of Grodno.
A very atmospheric and cool place in the heart of Grodno. Required to visit. For a better immersion, it is worth getting acquainted with its history or taking a guide.
It's a very interesting place. There are two castles nearby, an old one and a New one. The only museum in the new building is the Museum of History and Archeology (so-so). An inspection of the Old Castle is required. Take the time to go in and climb wherever you are allowed. We were lucky with the sunny and warm weather. The view from the terrace is excellent.
We were in Grodno for work and couldn't help but visit the main attraction, as for me.
We went around the whole castle, there were a lot of pleasant impressions left. Everything has been re -read and revised 🤪
Everyone needs to visit) You can also buy various nice little things and handmade items inside
It's a great museum. But you need a guide to fully immerse yourself. Well, the view from the observation deck is gorgeous. Even in winter. After the old one, you must go to the new castle. For comparison.
