We were at the castle for the May holidays. I was lucky with the weather. You can visit the castle at 11:45, inspect the expositions and by 11:58 climb up to the second platform to listen to the bugler on the fire tower and the view of the city is excellent.

A very interesting museum, especially if you go on a guided tour. But I can notice that there is a history, application and additional information about some of the exhibits. But most of all I liked the view from the observation deck. This is something! It looks even better in person

The old castle in Grodno. The old one, because there is a New castle nearby. The old castle was first mentioned at the end of the 10th century. It is located on a steep picturesque hill near the Neman River.
It was repeatedly destroyed and rebuilt. The palace, fragments of defensive walls, ruins of the Lower and Upper Churches, princely chambers, a bridge and a castle have been preserved to this day. Now the Grodno State Historical and Archaeological Museum lives there.
I remember the bathhouse with an interesting ceiling and the rooms of the church with pretty stained glass windows from the exposition.
The castle has an observation deck, which offers the best view of the surrounding area.

Thank you for the wonderful restoration! I was in the city about twelve years ago, of course a lot of work has been done and the idea of the museum is good, if you immediately grasp that the point is to install certain interiors from pieces of the castle's history. A wonderfully restored castle. And the restoration process continues. Of course, the so-called "spirit of antiquity" could not be preserved. But it's better than nothing. Although ruins can be picturesque. The exhibits are interesting, but there are not very many original ones. Nice view from the observation deck. There weren't many people in the morning.

An amazing place compared to what was and what has become! Interactive tours have appeared in almost every hall! The restoration was done right with love.The frescoes and stained glass windows are very similar to the authentic ones.I highly recommend visiting the observation deck: the view of Grodno is impressive.

So to ruin a historical monument is to really dislike your city. The museum, which had been here for many years, was removed. Previously, you could just come and walk around the castle grounds, now everything is only through the cashier. The ticket price is space, considering that you will just walk through the new building, stylized as an antique. You climb up the spiral staircase to the observation deck, where the distance from wall to wall is no more than half a meter, and given that the exit is not visible, you can meet someone halfway, and you will not be able to disperse: someone will have to back away. From the exhibits: several items found, apparently, during excavations. All the doors are solid oak, but they didn't even bother to come up with at least some patina or somehow age them. The only place that deserves a second star is the royal bathhouse: although it is new, it is really beautiful. Well, something like that.
