A good airport with a quiet mode, all information is on information boards, there are capsules at the excellent hotel, a huge parking lot for cars, it is fashionable to leave cars for a long time, everything is under cameras and security, payment at check-out in tenge through ATMs (which sometimes do not work and this creates a certain problem). Parking has become very expensive since 2023. If in 2022 we gave about 2 thousand in Russian rubles in 15 days, then in 2023 about 10 thousand (calculate in advance the cost of paying for parking so that it does not become an unpleasant surprise for you upon arrival from vacation).

The monorail is almost built, the locals are talking about opening in 2025, the Chinese are completing it.
In general, everything is very fast at the airport, all the necessary procedures.
A strong disappointment is the souvenirs. Chocolates at cosmo prices, there is practically no horse meat. If you want to bring souvenirs, it is better to buy in the city.
The cafes on the second floor are generally decent, there are also alcoholic beverages. But the price tag is also sky-high, in Moscow there are no such distortions with the price tag at the airport.
Minus an asterisk for the lack of alternatives to bus and taxi, as options to get to the airport. If a highway is blocked somewhere in the city, you can get stuck in traffic. The railway to the airport has been built for many years and so far there are only concrete pillars of support that are behind the fence. The locals call it a monument to corruption. It seems that the Chinese have now been allowed to finish building. The airport itself is bright and spacious. All processes are clear and fast.

The staff is polite, they will even help you call a taxi if anything, there is an exchanger, the international departure area is small, maybe there are other exits, do not count on shopping in buttercup, just no business halls 2, which sky lounge is rotten, there is nothing to eat, small and a lot of people.. on my personal scale, I would have given 3 stars, but in the end I decided 4- purely because of the people working there.

A relatively new, clean and beautiful airport. It's not very big for the capital compared to Moscow. Polite staff, convenient access. Oversized luggage is accepted at the counter where check-in for another flight takes place at the same time, I had to queue a second time just to hand over the already checked baggage. There is a long queue at passport control. Overall, the impression is good.

It's a good airport. Cleverly thought out. There is a grocery store at reasonable prices, many cafes and restaurants, ATMs of various banks, currency exchange. There are massage chairs and, unlike Russian airports, no one sleeps in them. They are alarmed and you can use the massage chair for its intended purpose.The most important thing that I like is that the airport is not crowded, there is no crowd like in Sheremetyevo or Sochi. There is a lot of space and it is spacious. Awesome

The theater starts at the hangers, and Astana Airport starts from the parking lot. The whole quest is to park for passenger drop-off. If you suddenly fly away by yourself, I recommend using the indoor parking, especially in the cold season, but keep in mind that the car gets covered with a thick layer of dust in a week.
The temperature in the parking lot is about 5-10 degrees Celsius in winter
The terminal itself is light. Navigation is clear. Of the obvious problems: seating and, sometimes, cleanliness in the bathrooms. If the first problem is solved by visiting the lounge (not a very cheap pleasure, but when you need to relax, it takes a back seat)
, there is enough space in both terminals to open additional places for rest and meals. I think it's better to go through the security check and then look for a place to eat.
If you smoke, please note that there are no cigarettes or lighters in the supermarket on the ground floor. And if you have arrived, then you can smoke only on the street.

Do not change money for local currency in the airport building, horse exchange rates. If necessary, you can change a little, and it is better to exchange the main money in the city.
If Kent does not meet you for some reason, then you can take a taxi from the airport to the city (Yandex is better than bombs at the entrance) or a bus.

Another remarkable meeting took place in the evening. When it was time to check into the hotel after the flight to Astana.
The taxi driver, who very smartly snatched us out of the crowd of arriving foreign passengers, peremptorily asked for nothing more than 10,000 tenge for his service. Of course, he didn't have a taximeter. We had a very rough idea of the exchange rate. Of course, he didn't show any change from a hundred dollars. I had to stop at the exchanger. The time was about two o'clock in the morning. I had to go to a brand-new modern pharmacy with a request to somehow exchange American rubles for Kazakh ones.
After learning the essence of my problem, a very elderly Kazakh elder suspected something was wrong. I clarified once again in pure Russian whether we were really going from Nur Sultan airport to the hotel located next to his pharmacy. Silently, he put on a beautifully embroidered warm ishik fur coat and a traditional sheepskin headdress. Outside, it was the usual -27 here at this time of year.
He didn't even lock the front door and came out with me to the Yandex carrier.
Also, on the way to the taxi, he took several pictures on his phone, in a tone that did not allow objections, asked the driver to get out of the car. I asked again in Kazakh if he really demanded 10,000 tenge for his service? I received an affirmative answer and started a dressing down, but now he was interspersing Kazakh and Russian, so much so that after about five minutes I felt sorry for my recent extortionist. The old man began by saying: "It is because of such dealers that the impression about the whole of Kazakhstan is formed. These foreigners are not ordinary, but those who raised this country and dragged it from feudalism to socialism. Have you forgotten that we lived in the same country? Do you want to get rich overnight? You don't know how to work honestly! Therefore, people like you are not worthy to represent our country! I'm calling the police and a representative of the aggregator to resolve the issue on the merits!"
The would-be taxi driver first tried to babble something about the high cost of parking spaces, the cost of gasoline and so on, but received such a thrashing that he regretted the beginning of the controversy. He was steaming in the cold like a racehorse after a race. He just huffed and snorted, afraid that objecting might drive the situation beyond the point of no return.
Feeling an unpleasant outcome for him, he suggested that I complete the route for 1000 tenge and forget about this misunderstanding. Our unexpected defender agreed to the terms of the proposed settlement agreement.
We warmly embraced my, as it turned out, one-year-old friend and continued our journey with a feeling of joy that someone else remembers the recent common past.

I flew in winter. The airport is clean, except for the toilet (at least in 1 terminal). The airport looks pretty good on the whole, inside and out. I can't say about the prices, nothing was purchased. There are seats at the airport right at the entrance doors and it is impossible to sit there because of the cold, but there is nothing else besides them during rush hour. Taxi drivers meet you inside the airport, who do not allow you to take a step, persistently and repeatedly offer you a ride.

A small compact airport. The city is 10 km away. Terminals for international and domestic flights are located in adjacent buildings. Parking is paid. Free parking for 15 minutes - separate entrance. There are very few chairs in the meeting room. I have to stand. There is a grocery store on the ground floor of the domestic terminal and a couple of coffee shops, communication boutiques, exchangers and souvenirs. Keep in mind, there is no place to buy cigarettes in the internal terminal! There are several cafes and smoking rooms in the waiting room for boarding the flight. There is a Duty free in the international terminal in the waiting room. Overall, not bad!

The airport is like an airport, there are many paid parking lots for cars, which we took advantage of, everything at the airport is accessible and informative. What I didn't like was that at check-in, my wife and I were seated at the end and beginning of the plane, without arguing with anything, and the only way out of the situation was to pay extra for each, the amount was not small and we did not do this. As a result, we were not alone and the whole plane was shuffled before takeoff, utter stupidity. Everything is clean, comfortable, and polite.

There is a shop on the ground floor under the dining room, the prices are adequate. There is a pharmacy, currency exchange, and you can buy a SIM card at the airport. There are ATMs. One disadvantage is that they do not sell transport cards. You can't leave by bus, you can't pay in cash on the bus.

We have been flying from Astana for several years now. The difference with departure from the same Moscow is cardinal.
The most important thing I want to note is a comfortable passage of the inspection, quickly and calmly.
No delays on departure, for these 3 years, we fly 2 times a day, everything is on schedule.
We leave the car in the free parking lot. It takes 3-4 minutes to walk with your luggage, very close.
The queues are small, the halls are spacious, and there are no crowds.

The airport is very simple. There are no terminals for printing boarding passes, which means that with hand luggage you will be checking in even if you have already registered - this is a huge minus. The duty free zone is compact, the choice of goods is small, it is completely boring and dull, despite the fact that prices are incredibly high. Will there be a monorail in 4 years? Upon arrival, there is a manual border control, and 2 aircraft can be released into four or six working gates. This means that you will lose 1.5 hours for sure.
In general, this does not look very much like a real international airport of a million-plus city.
But people are nice, they are ready to help, they treat you well.

I really liked the airport in Astana. Cool interior A lot of fast food there is a grocery store with reasonable prices. The airport is good. Everything is fine at the international terminal. But in front of the domestic flight terminal, there is a constant traffic jam on the pedestrian. There is no information on parking prices on the Internet, although there is even a covered one. Inside there is a mini supermarket with normal prices.
