I had no idea how cool the place was. People are polite, calm and friendly! There are so many sports people, families with children and the elderly!
And the air is so soft and envelops with hospitality, it's nice.
I will come back here more than once!

A great place, there is a regular bus, it is convenient to get there, we boarded at the hotel Kazakhstan stop, there are forests and mountains all around, beauty, we really liked it, there is a cable car nearby, you can climb the mountain, also from Medeu you can arrange with cabbies and go to BAO-Bolshoe Almaty lake, I recommend you to visit.

I go to the Medeu skating rink. The quality of the ice is excellent, and so is the price. The only thing that doesn't please you is that there are no handrails when you want to get off the ice. Because of the pits and uneven ice, even an experienced person can climb up to the edge normally.

There is a lot of space for skating, relatively unbroken skates, tickets can be quickly purchased on the website. There are a lot of cafes on the ice, you can take an instructor there for a cheap price.

I advise you to visit the skating rink during working days, this applies to guests and tourists. From Friday and weekends, finding parking is the beginning of a journey, respectively, and traffic jams, with a long wait on the bus. Considering the entrance and rental prices, it is better to buy new skates in advance before visiting the rink, since the price will be almost the same. This is especially true for children. The rink itself is cool and the biggest I've been to. The only thing is that the session is very long, and after an hour the ice condition will no longer be the same for beginners. On weekdays, there are few people and the ice will be of better quality. Everything is paid at the rink, it is better to take everything with you - there is no ban on this. The prices there are high locally. It's better to take a thermos and sandwiches with you. But I advise you to go, the view is cool, the atmosphere is super, the rink is very large, and most importantly it is a historical rink

I always visit medeu in winter, if I find myself in the city. Of course, there were a lot of people.. But if you come straight in the morning, then it's fine. The prices are +- adequate, they take a little everywhere, but there are a lot of these everywhere :)

Unfortunately, what the Medeo skating rink and the surrounding area are like now causes only feelings of regret that such a landmark place for the entire Soviet Union and perhaps many athletes of the world is in disrepair and requires urgent large-scale overhaul. In the 20th century, it was a factory and forge of world speed skating records. Now the arena is used mainly for various shows.

It is easy to get from the center by bus 12. You can climb stairs from the stadium, or you can take a cable car or taxi directly to Cimbulac. It is very beautiful at any time of the year.
